My experience is this: in 2000 my doctor prescribed Lipitor, which did bring my readings down to acceptable levels. In 2005 I realized I had been having increasing stiffness/soreness in joints and muscles, and I chalked it up to turning 60. But when it got so bad I could no longer sit on the floor with my grandchildren, my husband raised the question of statin side effects. Under my doctor's counsel I stopped the Lipitor and went to Zetia. Though it took two years for my muscles to return to normal (I am now pain free), the Zetia did work the first year, but now my cholesteral is back up to 240--this with a consistent exercise program and diet (I'm 5'2'' and weigh 122). So the question is where I go next....

This discussion would be moot if people would quit eating the poison that is the "American Diet" and start eating what our bodies were designed to eat. All of these problems are preventable, but we're not willing to change.

If they used thier money on research instead of advertising then maybe we wouldn't be having this discussion. They need to ban drug commercials on television.
