Twins outfielder Lew Ford appears headed for more knee surgery.
Ford took a few strides to test his right knee Saturday morning and quickly called it quits.
“I’m going to have the doctor look at it again,” Ford said. “It just didn’t feel right.”
On Wednesday, Ford was diagnosed with torn cartilage in the knee. He had a cortisone shot that day and said he’d know after testing it on Saturday whether he’d need arthroscopic surgery.
Ford said by having the surgery soon, he’d be ready near the start of the season, but he would almost certainly miss the exhibition schedule.
Update: Spoke to Twins GM Terry Ryan after the game, and he wanted to check with the team’s medical staff before saying whether Ford would need surgery. “That’s a last resort,” Ryan said.
