Morneau breaks his nose

Twins first baseman Justin Morneau left today’s game in the eighth inning with a broken nose. Team physician Dr. Dan Buss reset the nose in the clubhouse immediately afterward and Morneau is day-to-day.
“I’m sure it’ll be sore,” Morneau said. “We’ll see how it feels tomorrow. I should be able to go hopefully.”
Morneau, the reigning American League MVP, was fielding a one-hop throw from third baseman Nick Punto, when the ball bounced off the seam between the dirt and the artificial turf near first base, and shot straight up into his face
Morneau, who turns 26 on Tuesday, is the only Twin who has started all 36 games this season. He is batting .265 with nine home runs and 23 RBI.
