“The Tigers are done,” it says, in one of the first reader comments at the bottom of this game story in the Detroit Free Press, today. The Tigers most certainly aren’t done, but what a tough loss that was last night, as Todd Jones blew a four-run lead in the ninth.
“This was a win we should have had,” Jones said. “I got pounded. They got real me good.”
In his past four outings, Jones has allowed 10 runs in 3 1/3 innings.
Joe Nathan had a very tough 27-pitch save last night for the Twins, but Tigers fans are seeing what happens when a normally reliable bullpen falls apart. Joel Zumaya and Fernando Rodney are hurt, and Jones is obviously struggling.
Cleveland is 5-0 against the Twins and 5-0 against the Tigers. Oh, and the Cavs have won three straight against the Pistons, so the city of Cleveland is on a serious roll against Motown.
