Colorado’s stunning run continues

Boston is a 2 a.m., bar town, but the establishments closed before Colorado finished taking a 2-0 lead in the NLCS. Long before, actually. Let’s just say I have good information on that.
So the result isn’t in the 50-cent edition of the Star Tribune. The fact the Rockies are on a 19-1 roll that might make them the hottest team in baseball history is going largely ignored. Since I’m usually at the ALCS, one of my favorite ways of following the NLCS is reading Jayson Stark, who must have been up until 6 a.m. (Central), finishing this masterpiece. Read it, and you’ll be up to speed.
These Rockies have now become the first team in history to find itself in the middle of any postseason, riding a 19-1 streak that dates back into the regular season. The ‘27 Yankees never did that. The ‘36 Yankees never did that. The Big Red Machine never did that. The only team that even came close was the 1970 Orioles. But they never made it past 18-1 — in part because they won the World Series before they got that chance.
