FORT MYERS, FLA. — The Twins worked out this morning and then rushed to their team golf tournament. No major developments today. Still no update on exactly when Francisco Liriano, Alexi Casilla and Dennys Reyes will be in camp.

Delmon Young arrived, had his first batting practice session as a Twin, and continued trying to turn the page from his time in Tampa Bay.

Asked about the Carl Crawford’s comments from Rays camp earlier in the week, Young said, “I’m not worried about anyone else’s comments.”

Young, in fact, said he hadn’t even seen Crawford’s comments, which implied that the Rays were better off without Young and Elijah Dukes.

“I’m not really too much worried. They got their own stuff in St. Pete and we’ve got our own stuff down here and in Minnesota. All I can worry about is these 25 guys and the front office over here.”

When asked specifically about being lumped together with Dukes, Young said, “If they’re trying to blame us for the way they weren’t winning — if it was us two, we weren’t there from 98 to 06, so …”

Young seemed relieved when the other questions were more specific to baseball and his new team. He referred to his brother, Dmitri, thriving after changing from the Tigers to the Nationals for the 2007 season.

“Just shows when you get a fresh start and you’re in a nice environment that’s comfortable for you and you’re happy, anything is [possible].

“He goes out, no training in the offseason, doesn’t pick up a bat until he shows up to the minor-league camp, then finds his way onto the All-Star team and was in competition for a batting title all year.

“So it kind of showed me, you get a fresh start, second chance, anything can happen.”
