I’m curious to know how this game turned out.

There’s the 1-5 that I want to see out of the gate this year, followed by Kubel, Lamb, Harris then Everett

Certainly seems like Gomez has the leg up in the CF race.

Still only March 3rd folks. That is 4 full weeks til Opening Day at the Homerdome. Relax, enjoy Spring Training for what it is, lots can and will happen in the coming weeks.

Where the hell am I in the lineup Gardy?

Remember I still have those pictures of you and dick such sitting at home.

I wont be afraid to use them if this continues.

That A game lineup is very close to what we should be seeing opening day. Should be interesting to see if 1-5 can put something together.

Denard Span and Scott Baker in the B game? Hmmm……guess it doesn’t mean a thing.

Gomez needs to choke up, shorten his swing, chop down on the ball once in awhile, and use his speed. That swing is way too big, to play in the major leagues. AAA is a good place to learn.

AaronK says:

Craig,

What makes you so sure that AAA is a better place for him to learn then the Major League club? He is the best defender and base stealer of the 3. If his offense is decent he is the best option we have. If he can learn at the major league level as well or better, why not play him there?

Why does it automatically have to be AAA? Some people learn and perform better against the top comp.

Gomez is a super(over?)confident kid.
I don’t think he will accept instruction from Minor League coaches and batting instructors as readily as he would from the MLB staff.
If the Twins’ brass agrees with that personality assessment, they should keep him with the Twins.
If they disagree, they can send him to AAA and get the same results.

This is awesome the game is on the radio here the twins are up 2-1 bottom of the first

Gomez Walk Sb in a run in the first i lik it nice job kid

Mark says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 12:35 pm

2-1? MLB.com shows 1-1 after 1.5 innings. Who scored for us?

BC of ND says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 12:41 pm

My bad it’s only 1-1 i thought Morneau drove in a run

Mark says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 12:48 pm

Thanks. It did note that we left 2 on base. Casilla/Harris/Morneau have turned two double plays…

Gomez stole 3rd base, and Casilla stole 2nd…it’s a good start.

ummm. anybody know what’s happening?

Gman says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 1:10 pm

mark…. It is 3to 1 redsin the 4th. The game is on Bismark Mandan at about 700 on the am.

BC of ND says:

G-man who was it that told Gordo Young would hit 30hr’s and have 100 rbi’s?

LNP4Life says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Granderson seems to do alright with longer swing. He strikes out a lot but hits for good power.

Curiosity — what’s the scoop on this Jon Knott kid? He’s been getting some play at DH of late, but I hadn’t ever heard of him before.

AaronK says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:23 pm

I am really loving Gomez. When he gets on base it is basically a double or triple. He is going to be a run scoring machine at some point.

Andy says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:40 pm

Isn’t Casey Daigle actually Mr. Jenny Finch? We need pictures!

BC of ND says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:43 pm

First Jon Knott and now Randy Ruiz so much for Craig Monroes chances these are both big young guys.

sane says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:50 pm

I would be shocked if Ruiz or Knott play MLB in April.
If Monroe gets the axe it will be because TWO of the CF are kept.

Robimus says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:50 pm

Like the look of the top five spots in the batting order today. As long as Gomez doesn’t really stumble a :
Gomez
Mauer
Cuddyer
Morneau
Young-order looks good to me, Young and Cuddyer being interchaged if needed. Then we still have Lamb, Monroe and Kubel down at the bottom end. I think we might score a few more runs this year.

sane says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:52 pm

Harris (and Casilla) turned four DP’s.
That is what Gardy hangs his hat on.
Maybe Harris will get to play 2B.

Dave T says:

Ruiz hit a 2-run homer in the 9th to tie the game 6-6. Who is this guy Ruiz?

Funkytown says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 2:59 pm

Ruiz is a AA and lower lifer, who was suspended a while ago on positive Roids test…

Funkytown says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 3:03 pm

Twins win..Basak 2-run homer!!

Gman says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 3:07 pm

BC of ND…..I had to leave for awhile so I didnt get back to you. I heard Gladden say that but couldnt hear him real good. I think it was some evaluator from baseball america or some other service.

sane says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 3:08 pm

Ruiz, Macri and Basak!
The JV’s are better than the varsity - until they play against the other team’s varsity.

twin-X says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 7:34 pm

Fun game to listen to!
I too am liking this line up, we might actually score more then 2 runs every once in a while. :-)

bmick says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 7:50 pm

I would really like to see
gomez
casilla
mauer
mourneau
Cuddyer
Young
Kubel
Lamb
Harris

Speed and power. I dont have worries about lineup as much as pitching. Wish we had someone like Radke who could be leader and throws strikes. I like our defense too. Man how many days till opening day. We need one experienced pitcher.

flatblade says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 9:42 pm

I agree with b-mick, however, I think Gomez should be hitting near the bottom of the order until he develops into a better OBP guy. I don’t think they should put pressure on a 22 y.o. to be something he is not (a leadoff hitter) right now.

romer says:

March 3rd, 2008 at 11:13 pm

bmick, we have someone like Radke.

Baker. He’s looked decently strong for a while now.

If Boof has stamina, and if Liriano comes back strong, the starting staff will be decent.

jama says:

March 4th, 2008 at 8:43 am

Robimus

How do you get Young, Cuddy, Gomez, Kubel, and Monroe all in the same lineup?

Is one of them going to play SS?

sane says:

March 4th, 2008 at 8:48 am

jama,
With Livan pitching, Robimus may be suggesting a four-man outfield.

I would have been all over that “B” game at 9 this morning with a nice cup of coffee and the early morning sunshine. Then I would have taken off to Fort Myers Beach for some nice
“eye candy”. Man, I should be there.
