Hopefully this will be our normal line-up against RHP!
Joe Thank God you posted the lineup so everyone can begin second guessing Gardy on his lineup!
good!
looks like 2-0 to me
Clearly Gardy reads Aaron Gleeman and the other blogs!!!
Can we rerun yesterdays posts, with outraged and the Gardy defenders trading sides?
i don’t know why kubel is playing, whine, whine, whine ……………
let the complaining begin!!
Good line up. I think it would be better to have Lamb and Harris switch spots to get the righty lefty in order.
No second-guessing here…Gardy has kept Punto out for second straight game…Gardy should be given high praise for this lineup, as I praised him yesterday, and it produced nice results…even though Cuddy didn’t do much (his RBI single was essentially a grounder to short but the infield was drawn in)….
In time, D. Young will have that 3-hole….but for now, nice lineup, Skip!
was there an uproar last yr when dl white and takem deep tyner were the dh’s so called dh options?
PJS,
“Clearly Gardy reads Aaron Gleeman and the other blogs!!!”
I doubt that he reads Aaron Gleeman and the other blogs, but he may have experienced a surge of common sense -which I hope will last seven months.
“was there an uproar last yr when dl white and takem deep tyner were the dh’s so called dh options?”
That’s a big YES!!!!
gobbledygoodguy
I was outraged constantly. I was outraged the Twins didn’t make any moves to help alleviate the situation, but I guess $$$ in contracts must have had something to do with it.
Garrett Jones failed in his limited test, then choked this spring. Now the Twins have one power bat on their 4-man bench, and 2 utility infielders to go with the backup catcher.
If Gardy wants to have guys with PH pop late in the game, then he has to decide to either cut back to an 11-man staff or give up one of the 2 utility guys.
Good lineup! Go get ‘em Kubes!
I like the line up Punto’s not in it.
bc Twins fans,
I’d rather have Lamb hitting higher, I think he’s a better batter and that will ultimately get him more at bats over the course of the season. I’m probably the biggest fan of the Lamb signing out there though. I was hoping for him from day one when I figured we weren’t getting a 3B in the Santana trade.
So question:
What was the most pathetic lineup we had last year that anyone can remember?
I like Lamb too. He has a few things to prove before we can put him in a better slot though. Remember he’s never been relied on as a full timer before.
It’s true I’d rather have Kubel or Monroe rather than any of the guys last year. Given both players history against right handers it just made sense to start Kubel yesterday, thus the uproar.
It also makes a lot of sense to start Monroe against Lefties though, and that can’t be argued. Let’s all just thank God we don’t have Punto and Tyner Dh’ing
Kurt,
I didn’t mean to have him hit higher I just meant that I want him in the 7th slot instead of Harris.
monroe looked overmatched last night. please give kubel the every day DH job.
I like this lineup the way it is. gomez had to produce, though.
btw…this is funny: santana hurt?
http://mlbfleecefactor.com/2008/04/01/johan-sent-for-an-mri-mets-fans-fleeced/
Funkytown,
Not only do they need to drop an IF to add a powerhitting PH, they need to add one to the 40 man roster. They have no hitters in AAA. Jones? Ruiz? No thanks. I guess I don’t know much about Knotts.
Monroe didn’t look any more overmatched last night than Torrie Hunter did. 3 at bats does not make or break a season. I like Kubel a lot and thought he would start last night as well. I hope he does something tonight and gets to start again tomorrow. I have high hopes for Monroe. He always put up good numbers in the Dome but that may has just been because he was hitting against the Twins!
New ballpark name?
Considering this is April 1st maybe Joe is just playing with all the Kubel fans
Gardy wont drop Tolbert and Punto makes 2 million a year. Next year Punto is gone.
I couldn’t believe the how popular Punto was at the game last night, people went nuts for him!! Even when he came in to pinch run, amazing!
Did anyone else see last night what the baserunners are wearing on their wrists? Looks like an ‘anti-hand-breaking-protector’. Is this just the Twins, or are other teams/players using these? Seems like the last few seasons have seen more baserunning based injuries.
They need 2 backup IF. If you PH for one and there’s an injury, who’s left? Cuddyer? Carrying 12 pitchers is limiting, but I doubt it’ll last past May (depending on injuries).
el,
Other teams are wearing them as well. I saw one player for the Angels (Figgins?) put one on after he reached base.
If Bass gets demoted, does he have to clear waivers?
They were cheering for punto bc he was not playing! They cheered for him when he ran bc they knew he would not bat.
Yes,
Bass would have to clear waivers to get sent down.
imo that’s why we should have considered ryan freel and dumped punto. much better bat can play if and of maybe not the glove but much better ph option and more flex.
Are we thinking Bass goes down when Liriano comes up? I was thinking Blackburn unless Slowey looks shaky.
Here’s a thought. Last year we had a plethora of arms and most thought we should trade at least one for some O talent. We did that in Garza for Young. but we seem to have Liriano back, Humber, Perkins and Mulvey in AAA. Do we still need to move one?
Kurt,
No the talk is to drop to an 11-man pitching staff and get another power hitting bat on the bench to PH.
Yes it would most likely be Blackburn or Slowey that gets sent down when we call up Liriano.
I see. Is that wise with Baker and Liriano likely on limited pitch count? Maybe 6 weeks from now??
Might be a kind of a heresy to talk about the opponent’s lineup, but I am very happy to see Anderson in the field and Matthews as the DH 2 days in a row, since Matthews probably has twice the range of Anderson (more TX-league singles on the way…)
where would this power hitting bat come from? bonds?
I don’t see Slowey getting down (he is just too good), Bass can’t; so its probably Blackburn.
btw, who was the player to be named later in the Monroe trade?
I may be the only one who actually wants to see BB in a Twins uniform. He can even bring his recliner.
Powerhitting might be a strong turn. More pop than Buscher/G Jones/etc. I don’t know where that would come from either. Waiver wire?
power hitting bat
Ruiz
Bonds and Livan would have their own couch
His name is … Later. that’s what they said didn’t they.
Can you imagine the damage bonds would do to the baggy. Steriod free even.
I agree. Ruiz hit every pitcher he faced in ST.
I guess I’m in the minority, but I’m fine with carrying 12 pitchers for awhile. I don’t see that much benefit for this team from a power bat off the bench. I’m more concerned about pitching than offense, at least right now.
ruiz would be cool to see up here. Buscher has things he can do to improve his stock yet at Rochester. Knott?? I don’t know enough about him.
can you see the smoke come out of gardy’s ears the first time bonds jogged down to first on a grounder?
sorry for the barage, it’s just fun to talk Twins again.
So what happens when the first OFer goes down on another team, does Kubel or Monroe become attractive?
I wonder if for a Barry Bonds you could accept different rules and not have it be cancerous. He is like 44, old.
Kubel is too inexpensive to trade. There are teams looking for OFs now, but people like Coco Crisp are more available… Funny to say, but if the Twins go with a 12 men staff, (and can’t afford to bring up Pridie) they actually need Monroe… With 11-men staff you can have Pridie & Ruiz on the bench and have Monroe expandable… The other consideration is that the Twins are actually under budget this year so they are not interested in reducing payroll
Garrett Jones failed in his limited test, then choked this spring.
Jones didn’t fail, and he didn’t choke, he just isn’t a very good hitter.
Might be a kind of a heresy to talk about the opponent’s lineup, but I am very happy to see Anderson in the field and Matthews as the DH 2 days in a row, since Matthews probably has twice the range of Anderson (more TX-league singles on the way…)
I’m quite happy to see Anderson back out in the field. I have little doubt that Matthews would have easily caught Kubel’s “double” last night.
talking about some badly-run teams & OF needs: The Rays get rid of Dukes and Young, Baldelli is permanently on the DL, and now they are looking for OFs…
Yeah but the Rays are more harmonious now so that more than makes up for lack of talent. Right?
The Rays still have quite a bit of talent and could almost guarantee that Baldelli would land on the DL for an extended period of time. Justin Ruggiano will be the next young OF to grace the synthetic grass of the Trop.
harmonious
the late 90s Twins’ teams were harmonious too ![]()
Kurt don’t talk about OLD BB in a Twins uniform it makes me want to vomit!!!
Kubel should start every game against RHP’s. I like Monroe…..as a BACK-UP outfielder or DH.
if anyone is interested : democratandchronicle.com is the newspaper for rochester ny - home of the AAA club..they cover pretty good….starting pitchers are perkins, duensing, humber, mulvey and stennet…i may have that last one wrong a bit…this club should be fun to watch this year…..
shamless, is there any amount of HR’s or RBI’s that would calm your upset stomach?
From Sid’s interview with Tom Kelly:
“Third base, Mike Lamb, I’m not quite sure what I think of Mike yet, but he certainly is capable of playing well,” Kelly said. “He’s made a few funny plays. I’m sure they’ve been well-documented here. … We’ll see if he can handle that everyday-type job; he hasn’t really done that in his career.
“[Second baseman] Brendan Harris is a good player. He’s got a few things that I think Gardy’s been working on with him on his defense. He’s a very capable hitter, so he certainly can put the ball in play and do some things with the bat. But up the middle, we need to be solid in our defense, and I know Ron has been really working with him to try and improve a few little things.”
Predictions on the slimmer Boof tonight? I think the Twins can put up 4-5 on Garland, can Boof hold the Angels down?
Of the “inexperienced” pitchers, I have a special place in my heart for Boof. I’m not really sure why either.
this year for Boof I’ll be watching to see how well he does on the third trip through the lineup. He seemed to fade a little too early to really carry his weight. It should be easier now with less of it.
Angels may come alive tonight. Depends on how many curves Boof throws.
Morneau needs to come alive too, or his new nickname might become hockey-head. He’s been dead for like 8 months now.
If/when Young gets hot behind Morneau, it should help the big Candadian. As much as I don’t like Cuddy in the 3-holw, I think having Young behind Morneau is the way to go.
Well Kurt I think the opportunity to boo BB and maybe if I’m really lucky tell him he’s a fraud to his face would be more worth it than any petty contribution that bi#*h has left in him.
this was the funniest lineup from last year that i remember…
casilla
punto
mauer
cuddy
morneau
tyner
kubel
ford
bartlet
anyone have a funnier one?
I don’t know if that line-up is the worst but it’s terrible. It could have been worse if Rodriguez was at third and Punto was at second.
liondragon, why am I not smiling? Man that was dreadful last year. All those injuries.
BTW, anybody hear an update on V. Martinez?
there is some guy on the pregame show talking about people ripping Gardy. My name is Brad Beneke, and I don’t think that Gardy is a GREAT manager… so I’m telling you right now I think that he’s a decent manager, but he’s not a great manager.
Anyone who loves Nick Punto has issues.
Anyone who likes to put Juan Rincon has issues.
Anyone that supports Scott Ulger and Joe Vavra… they have issues.
Gardy has his issues.
However, the things that matter most are the wins, and his team wins, and the players’ respect for the game, for each other, for the fans, and for the manager, and you know what… his players love him so I have no problem putting up with him, but everytime that Punto gets an atbat I will rip him. Everytime that Rincon comes into a game, I will question him. As a fan I have that right.
So relax about your call to the radio stations to worry about what we think. You have your own opinion dude, keep it… it’s cool. But to think that Gardy walks on water, that’s just insane.
How about Cirillo in there somewhere?
Twins pregame…..looks like Bert kissed a scratchy cat or something.
Glad to see Kubel in the lineup. But if he goes 0-3 and strikes out, Monroe will be right back in there. Heck, I’m convinced Kubel could go 3-4 with a homer and 2 RBI’s and still be on the pine against the next RHP…because that’s Gardehire’s track record with this kid. Kubel started hitting well right after Ford was shown the door (finally) last season. Amazing what a quality hitter can do when they’re not consistently looking over their shoulder and wondering when the hook is coming. Stop placating the veterans, Gardy, and let the youth on this team grow, and grow together.
re Martinez: MRI was negative seems to be a muscle “strain” he is day-to-day…
re lineup: I am sure that there were some really bad lineups in September involving White, Tyner, Punto and LeCroy… I have to look those up
Gardy doesn’t walk on water?
Bingo,
I agree. Gardy doesn’t seem to like Kubel much at all.
ok… my vote for worse lineup (at least infield) from last year:
at Boston 9/27
C LeCroy
1B G. Jones
2B Punto
3B Buscher
SS Bartlett
LF Kubel
CF Hunter
RF Cuddyer
BC, I didn’t understand exactly what you were trying to say about Rincon.
Some advice for you, BC……don’t expend a lot of emotion on Punto and Rincon anymore. Gardy can’t release them.
Lastly, the Vavra thing has me mystified. He had a great year, and then a lousy one last year. I don’t know that much about him and his coaching skills, do you?
Carlos just said he played basketball as a kid. He can dunk.
Romer.
Releasing them isn’t option… I get it, but disliking them as ball players is still fun.
The Vavra thing is simple… his “great” year was because of career years by half the team in a miracle season.
What was his qualifications to be a hitting instructor? He’d never been a hitting coach, never played minor or major league ball, never been a manager to my knowledge (I couldn’t find him).
Torii Hunter said he credited 2006 to Joe Mauer… Joe Mauer was born with his ability. Morneau mentioned Mauer… Punto credited Rod Carew… Castillo was a career 300 hitter before coming here.
No one credited Vavra with it.
When your team drops 100 runs, and your star players all drop their batting averages by 20-40 points each, and your team is shut out more than any other team in the major leagues by a lot… the hitting coach needs to go. It’s that simple. A team needs to make a change sometimes just to make a change, and this case I think getting rid of Vavra is a justified move.
The Twins need a hitting coach that will help this team with how to hit in certain situations, how to work on hit and runs… What the hell does Vavra know about this as a former NON-PLAYER?
I’m not going to ask you to give me your medical opinion if you’re an automechanic, or an english teacher… how did Vavra qualify?
I want to see Al Oliver, Bill Madlock, Carney Lansford, Terry Pendleton, Mike Greenwell, someone of that calibur in here to teach these hitters how to be major league hitters, and how to be able to handle situations.
And he started “practicing” baseball when he was 4. His dad raised him to be in sports and be “clean”.
Kurt–I am on the BB wagon, too. You know, I don’t view getting a guy who would be our most valuable hitter as a BAD thing.
Shameless–will you be out there booing Giambi, Tejada, Pettitte, Roberts, Gagne, and Rincon?
Seems there is a double standard…Bonds is a pariah, but there are admitted wife-beaters on rosters…no problem?
thrylos i remember that one..
when mauer was injured… and morneau got the day off…
dreadful times.. and ill tell you we stunk last year so i think almost all the lineups stunk.. lol
and in 2006.. just a lot of miracles.. punto hit well (atleast till the playoffs) and everyone was having a great end to the year.
this is by far our best lineup though since.. well probably since 91
Just heard Gardy’s last words in the radio pregame. He says Delmon comes in early and could play at 8 in the morning.
Looks like we got a couple young jewels in the outfield.
Bonser cranks the FB up a notch to Vlad
AM - yes there is a double standard unfortunately… Bonds is no better or worse (ethically & legally) than Rincon or Clemens or Pettite but for some reason he seems to be the point man in the steroids era…
As far as the “lying in a grand jury” goes (for both Clemens and Bonds), Bill Clinton did too and nothing happened. So people get over it…
great luineup, more diversity and strong players. how about that double play with Harris and Everett.
Monroe and kubel will be good DH’s.
Win Twins!
Boof slipped early. Get rid of the jitters big…okay little…guy.
Boof’s getting rocked. Somebody go get him a Dome dog and nachos.
So wait, are you saying Boof’s extra weight was like Sampson’s hair?
Boof’s delivery looks too deliberate, like he’s aiming the ball. He didn’t have command on the 2 slider I’ve seen.
Angels have professional hitters. That’s why it’s 2-0.
thrylos98 is right, I just don’t understand why people think it’s something bad to lie to a grand jury. Everyone needs to get over it! In fact, everyone should lie to grand juries. The world would be a better place if we all lied to grand juries and everyone “got over it”.
T:
Don’t be silly. Everyone knows this: Big belly boosts risk of later dementia - Yahoo! News
Having a big belly in your 40s can boost your risk of getting Alzheimer’s … there’s no precise way to translate belly measurements into waist circumference.
Apology accepted!
“Bill Clinton”,
my point is that grand juries and the congress and the government have more serious things to deal with than baseball and steroids…
Wow. That was closer than one’d expect.
BILL CLINTON:
BILL CLINTON:
You are right. You lied about sex. Well, EVERYONE lies about sex. Get over it already!
Another hanging curve by the Boof, another double.
Uh Boof…pal. You’re supposed to be better than Livan.
Rmember?
OK. Batting practice is over,Boob. Start the real game.
OOPS! TYPO! I really did mean to type “Boof”.
Really! ! !
I don’t lie about sex anymore….just ask my wife……and she has never told a lie either. And I did not do steroids with that guy, Mr McNamee!
BILL:
Did you inhale?
ANSWER THE QUESTION!
Boof bounces back. C’mon offense.
I have never inhaled steroids!
We digress. I think he’s settled down now. Might be a blood sugar problem. Somebody get him a grape Nehi!
BC B, have you seen this about Vavra?
http://www.minnesotatwinstickets.com/coaches/joe-vavra-tickets.php
Looks like he’s qualifed enough in the general sense. But like you, I still have my doubts. He seems like more of an administrative coach than a hands-on personality.
BTW isn’t Lou Pinella considered one of the greatest hitting coaches ever?
Boof has settled down, that is. Clinton’s wound up tighter than popcorn f#rt.
ERROR!
I love Koobs
Kubes currently batting 1.000 with a couple of good luck hits ![]()
Command probs for Boof.
Yeah, nice dig for Morneau. But he’s automatic on it.
Goodnight everyone, Hillary says I have to go to bed now. But it won’t be with her!
Does anybody else find it odd that it’s more upbeat in the comments when the team is losing than last night when they were winning?
Harris seyz: “I got your fielding percentage right here.”
Routine play for Punto.
(Bet I catch heck for that!)
Harris hitting and playing D? Hopefully enough to keep punto on the bench until the late inning defensive situations.
Go Kubel…
Routine at bat for Punto.
*dodges beer bottle*
Now pinch hitting for Kubel…..Nick Punto
Kubel muscled his 2nd hit. Not on a line drive, but hit pretty much straight out towards the golden glove CF, who couldn’t get to it quite in time.
Lucky hit?
Selig wasn’t dealing with it, somebody had to.
Wow. THey weren’t kidding on KFAN the other day. The drop off in fans from last night to tonight is sad.
Last night: “YAY IT’S OPENING DAY! GO TWINS!”
Tonight: “Oooh…NFL Draft coming up!”
hey yo joey christensen what do u think about the twins using the metrodome in april in 2010 just on bad weather days?
Keep it up Twins, I want to start an “0 for ___” chant tomorrow night.
And what do you do with the extra fans? I don’t know how much bigger the new park is…but wouldn’t there be not enough seats?
The new park is smaller
Keep it up Twins, I want to start an “0 for ___” chant tomorrow night.
That should read “Torii”
…Wow that’s a bad typo.
better than having the games postponed wouldnt u say instead of having double headers in june or july
Tight-breaking curve, in the dirt, by Boof. Good pitch.
Some quality pitching now by Bonser.
Twins flashing some leather, now get the lumber going.
EVERETT!!
Too many square-heads are blocking your way, AJ. How wouldja get enough beer delivered in time. All the logistics…..
Twins won 90 plus games in four of the last six years?
That’s pretty good.
Offense is drab tonight. Can anyone else bunt besides Gomez?
Shape up “T”. No excuse for typos!
That’s an “E” for “T” !
Crap.
true u do have a point about that i suppose if your sitting in 20 degree weather and drinking beer u dont know the difference anyways
Another great pick up by Morneau. Where’s Craig? Calling him a below average defensive first baseman. Hogwash!
I was just gonna say Everett’s arm doesn’t look very strong…..and there’s his throwing error on a routine play.
Maybe he’s still weak from the flu.
true u do have a point about that i suppose if your sitting in 20 degree weather and drinking beer u dont know the difference anyways
You might actually prefer it…beer will be colder.
AJ, I think it’d be a blast. A Dome revival kegger.
It’s too wild for the corporate types though.
Defense letting Boof down. Got the stamina Boofster?
Those don’t sound ilke “Boof” chants anymore…
*phew* Classic Hunter.; )
I guess this will have to be one of 8-7 games Gardy talked about.
Everett can’t make errors like that the way he is hitting. Way too costly.
ha-ha, T.
Time to start lighting up Garland. Not like we’re facing Cy Young or nothing.
10-13 with 4.23 ERA last year.
It’s now or never. Garland could be tiring. But there’re two outs.
LOL
Big problem…..Everett up. I’d PH Tolbert.
I wonder how long Gardy will go with this lineup. Morneau seems to crumble under the pressure of hitting cleanup and Mauer doesn’t seem to like #2 either.
Everett picking a good time for his first Twins hit ![]()
Had to make up for his error ![]()
Oops, my bad. Run scores.
Let’s see if he holds back.
Go-go shoulda bunted.
EF, your analysis might be a little premature. But I know what you mean.
romer, I am going back the last couple of years, it never seems to go right like this
But if I heet the 3 run homer I am thee hero. Maybe bunt thee next time.
Livan Hernandez: Pitcher, Player, …Speaker? Not so much.
Quality start for Boof.
Gomez got a cookie, a high hanging slider. Maybe he didn’t quite know what to do with it. But it looked like a mistake pitch, so he had to go for it.
Thrylos, congress might have better things to decide than steriods in MLB, EXCEPT steroids becoming the performance enhancer on a wide scale and among the young people of America does have serious implications.
The reason is: who pays for the long term medical problems of all the people who do not have BB’s or Clemmens earnings?
I will tell you who pays, it is all of us! That is why it is important for congress to spend time on a seemingly unimportant baseball issue.
And, anyone who does not think lying while under oath is not a serious problem, you might consider the effect on our legal system if it is held it total disrespect and in shambles.
I do not give a whit if Billy Boy had sex away from Hillary or not.
But, it is much better to answer: “none of your business, or it is a private matter, or I will not answer your question” than to lie under oath.
In Cooba no teach englash
After what Bert said about Livan…is it wrong to want to nickname him “Slowpoke Rodriquez”
M&M not contributing much so far these first 2 games. Can’t do anything much without them.
The Iceman speaketh.
why is Delmon playing 3b now, who is in left??? WTF
It’s two different teams so far in the first two games.
On September 22, 1968,Cesar Tovar became the second player to play every position in a game, joining Bert Campaneris (Kansas City Athletics, 1965), Scott Sheldon (Texas Rangers, 2000) and Shane Halter (Detroit Tigers, 2000). No National League player has ever done it. Tovar started the game on the mound against Oakland and pitched one scoreless inning in which he struck out Reggie Jackson; the first batter he faced was Campaneris.
thanks for that cezar tovar have u ever heard of little cezar’s pizza delicious?
In venazuala no teach englash
we get medium cezar’s for 5 bucks on tuesday here in sioux falls south dakota
I just snuck away from Hillary and so I’m back watching the game. Guess what I’m getting right now as I type this message.
Anderson is a professional hitter.
Crappy pitch by Reyes. He and lots of other Twins don’t look enthused tonight.
Mauer looks grumpy. He had 2 semi-passed balls tonight (”wild pitches”). Not like him.
head?
No career non-Twins hits for Torri yet.
If you think some Twins fans are livid that the team didn’t keep Hunter, can you imagine how the LAA fans are currently behaving with his 0fer start?
vlad and garrett

cuddy and morneau

It says Young doesn’t have an RBI on the season…didn’t he knock Gomez in the other night?
Delmon’s gonna bat .320 this year, maybe more
AJ:
Been there many times. I mean Cezars, not your 9:01.
Mauer and Cuddy knock me in
T:
Good thing they didn’t trade the best pitcher in baseball for him.
Delmon will bat sub .300.
I have eaten at Little Seizure’s Pizza.
Still quivering.
1-4 guys are 1 for 12. That won’t usually get it down.
There T, I brought down the positive tone for you.

Yes, with a sub-.800 OPS.
Gene Mauch used to take a swipe at a fielders glove if he tried to make a catch over the Twin’s dugout. They had to put in a rule against that. The “Mauch” Rule.
No T, he stole a base and scored himself. Lamb and Cuddy got RBIs last night.
They did a small shift on Lamb tonight and shut him down.
As soon as Hillary gets back from dodging snipers in Bosnia, I’m going to send her out to get some pizza from Little Sleazers (sounds like my kinda place).

The Tovars breed well in captivity.
Harris gets a Casilla error.
It’s a good thing this it’s already the second game of the season or else the doomsayers would look really riddiculous.
That last error by Harris is a kid trying to do too much in what’s gotten to be a downer of a game.
Best Bullpen in Baseball?
Hunter looked a little sore walking in the OF a couple innings ago.
Wonder what he’ll look like in 4 year……
Fielder’s indifference.
That would have been a web gem by Harris. I wish he wouldn’t do those things, because Gardenhire won’t need many excuses to play Punto.
speaking of wheres marny gelner?
AJ, I believe she’s on maternity leave…
Scott…are you Jason?
I suppose on the upside, the young guys are learning a thing or two about getting their butts kicked.
Quick lesson in humility tonight. Best they can do is learn from it.
o poor marny
Hey look, Gardy PH Tolbert.
No, I’m Scott. Unless there’s something my parents have told me.
Decent slash by Tolbert…..couldn’t find the hole.
Haven’t told me I meant to say.
Some of our hitters(2-4) look kinda raw, maybe Go-Go needs to give them some pointers
I figured a good opening homestand is 4-3 (split LAA and take two from KC)
I should have steeled 2nd base. What’s with all thee ground balls from thee catcher?
Hunter’s first hit of the year. ![]()
T-Nutts that’s gonna leave a mark.
Shoulda been drilling Guerraro.
Make the bleeding stop….
I don’t know how rincon is still with the Twins. All of last year and so far tonight, he starts off hitters: ball 1, ball 2. A recipe for disaster! And anti everything the Twins stand for.
no mas no mas
JP, they almost got rid of him in the Young trade. But he came up with a lame elbow and had to replaced with Morlan.
Barring a late inning uber miracle…this game is decided. I’m out tonight.
I’ll be there tomorrow. I’ve heard tell there’s going to be a sign…
So much for the perfect season.
Oh well, 161-1 is still pretty good.
And, we’ll see you tomorrow night.
i dont know why but i scence ron playing punto tommorow i just think he’s seen enough idk?
Yeah Rincon looks like a beginner.
Bass looked like he was trying too hard.
Both had command problems. At least Bass had good movement.
BC B might get his wish this season. Dump Rincon and Punto.
Pick up Ruiz and Pridie.
i just have the ron scence right now idk what it is i just see him going back to punt-o but hey that’ll be two back to back outs at least your getting consistancy with punto and everette
I have a feeling this is just a big APril Fools prank by the Twins. Shortly before the third out we’ll all be rickroll’d and get a good laugh out the whole mess.
Delmon Young is going to be a stud this year.
Everett has outhit Mourneau this year.
I know T but they offered him arbitration. Which IMO was a mistake.
EVERYone has outhit Morneau this year.
And Hunter too.
No praise for Bonser by Gladden and Gordo. Ditto on the tube.
He struggled. But he showed better stamina and got a quality start.
For a team where the big question mark is starting pitching, this is good news, duh.
Why the gloom with him?
The offense didn’t look ready for the sinker baller Garland.
Vavra?
Imagine how they’ll look against Silva.
FSN should do a 30 minute round table with Tony Oliva, Livan Hernandez and Carlos Gomez and I’d understand about
8 words during the whole show. Man those interviews are tough to understand. And just think Vladimir Guerrero has been in the North America for over 10 years and still doesn’t speak english.
Right Buff.
“Se habla Espanol”
ya throw Big Papi in there too. its tough to understand what they are saying!
I didn’t see the error by Everett. Was it a ball Morneau could have handled? We’ve seen Twins infielders get a lot of throwing errors called on them over the years, because Morneau couldn’t handle a slightly less than perfect throw, so I’m just wondering.
Where are the sluggers. So far, just 4 small ball runs in two games…..hmmmm
I didn’t see the error by Everett. Was it a ball Morneau could have handled?
Everett’s throws were a bit wide/low all night. The specific throw in question went wide left and pulled Morneau well off the bag (he was standing upright with his arm fully extended and still had to come off the bag to reel it in). He almost made a great play as he caught it to spin and tag the guy, but he just a little behind the runner.
There were also a few throws from Everett that came out short and took a nasty hop or two that Morneau had to scoop.
Dicknbert mentioned that Morneau had talked about the adjustments that come with three new infielders throwing styles. I’m sure they’ll work the kinks out in due time.

I caught a few things during the Hernandez interview. Seems like a pretty nice guy. Talked a bit about mentoring young pitchers and some of the guys he played with early in his career (he was with the Marlins?)
Tolbert will be starting before the all star break. Gardy wont put up with that kind of play from Harris or Everett all year
Mauer has admitted now that when Gomez is on base and he is behind in the count he tries to move him over. We can’t sacrafice his at-bat with our poor lineup. I don’t like this line-up anymore. He needs to be moved to third.
