Lamb leaves game with foot injury

CHICAGO — Twins third baseman Mike Lamb left Wednesday’s game in the ninth inning after fouling a ball off his right foot. Nick Punto came in to finish the at-bat, a strikeout, that was actually credited to Lamb. Details to come.

UPDATE: Lamb had X-rays taken, and was diagnosed with a bruised foot. He’s day-to-day.

Justin Morneau also left the game with flu symptoms. The bug continues making its way through the clubhouse. Jason Kubel said he’s been sick, too.

Can’t pick up the telecast and don’t have mlb gameday. Did I understand that Sox fans were cheering when Lamb was injured and left the game?

Yeah there were a few cheers.

Just looked up the score. Hope we ten-run them.

I guess they don’t do that in the majors.

Let’s hope it’s nothing serious.

Lamb has begun to swing the bat well.

(Sorry, no telecast where I am.) What’s the deal with Morneau leaving the game? I see Punto’s at 1st, but why wouldn’t he stay in the game at 3B if he hit for Lamb? Had Lamb replaced Morneau previously?

Nick Punto was third baseman in 2006

Twins won division in 2006.

Therefore, if Nick Punto’s the third baseman, the Twins will win the division.

Seems reasonable right? We are, after all, in a twilight zone where we sit 2.5 games behind the big bad Royals.

Looks to me like the foul ball first hit lamb in the shin then down to the top of the foot or lower shin area. Thing must of hurt like a son of a gun. My guess is nothing serious and he will be back tomorrow or maybe sit one and start against KC on Friday.

Everett stayed in the game. Tolbert came in at 3rd and Lamb went over to 1st so Morneau could get a late-game break.

When Lamb left, Punto came in at 3rd, Harris to 1st, and Tolbert to 2nd.

When Lamb left, he was booed as well. He looked like he was walking okay. Took a foul ball just above the ankle on his right shin.

OUCH, an Update from Joe. Morneau has the flu.

The Twins have no first baseman?

romer says:

Ruiz? Jones?

Morneau has the flu, not a broken arm. I’ll be suprised if he isn’t in the lineup tomorrow…but for sure by the weekend.

Tomorrow’s lineup —

Go-man
Harris 1B
Kubel DH
Young
Tolbert 2b
Monroe RF
Redmond C
Punto 3B
Everett

Fun, isn’t it….

I could see us winning that game with that lineup :) Stranger things do happen.

Tomorrow’s game may be rained out anyway.

If the Twins have to replace Lamb (or Morneau) for a DL visit, they will probably call up Buscher or Macri (most likely Buscher)from the 40-man-roster.
IMO they won’t add Jones, Knott or Ruiz to the 40-man-roster in order to bring them up.

Morneau is a hockey guy so hes tough, he will play tomorrow for sure!!

Consider me praying for rain. Everett/Punto in a row is just going too far. Not to mention it will more likely be Redomond batting in the 3 hole.

I am really mad at FSN North because of the sporting event they had on last night!! I would have rather watched the Twins instead of the pitiful Twolves team. that know one cares about. Considering the Twolves were out of playoff contention long time ago. I understand FSN North this Friday cause of the Wild game so that will pre-empt the Twins game but I think they should have the Twins game on after the Wild game on FSN.

Danks and Masset were disgusting. That guy Danks had absolutely nothing, plus he couldn’t find the plate. Good to see the boys get a chance to feast on some pathetic pitching.

Back in 1987 when Tim Laudner was hitting around .190, they used to say he was hitting “a buck ninety”. Poor Adam Everett is hitting, ninety five cents (.095).

I may be mistaken, but I think the TV schedules are determined at the beginning of the season. FSN agrees to air X number of games during the season.

That’s why you sometimes see them pick up extra games if they’ve had a rain out or two.

Punto finally figured out how to strike out and have it “credited” to someone else. There is no end to his ingenuity.

The game was on TV here in the Metro last night. It was on Channel 10 which I think it WGN.

SweetOne says:

Jama,

I can see the game being on WGN as we played Chicago but it would’ve been the Chicago broadcast not the MN broadcast.

It was also broadcast on My29. Wild were on KSTC (45) and Twolves on FSN.

Flu, Flu, Flu.
Don’t you think that the teams doctors should be giving flu shots?
Jeez, seems like pretty much everyone ont he team has caught it thus far.
Next year when the players arrive at ST, if they have not had them, give them flu shots.

A small apology. My 10:49 p.m. post last night wasn’t quite correct. Punto went to 2nd and Tolbert went to 3rd.
