Just remember that Punto hit that last out hard to deep left, so lets not automatically assume Monroe or Tolbert would have been solid gold. Having said that, I do agree that Gardy should have put in someone with better odds at the plate, but we'll never know now if the outcome would have been any different. Lets just hope the coaching staff is over with the waiting until it's too late mentality when it comes to personnel changes during the game. And get Everett out of there! Absolutely no reason to not have solid defense there and just eat the out whenever the ss comes up to bat, instead of having both iffy batting and very iffy fielding there.

Everett also booted Gomez’s throw to 2B earlier because he didn’t or wouldn’t bend his knees and get in an athletic position to receive the throw.
The batter ended up with a double and the baserunner, who had stopped at 3B, was allowed to score as the ball rolled away.
Please don’t show me any more b-ll sh-t metrics to prove that Everett is a better SS this year than than Ozzie Smith ever was.
I could lose my breakfast.

A throwing error by Everett hurt too! I thought this guy was supposed to be this crazy good fielding SS, so far I've seen his fielding is good but his arm is weak and not the most accurate. Maybe it's the shoulder? Or maybe it's Knoblauch Idiss...Who knows it's early...But a game that should have been won

after last night:
gardy has a hard time when things get sticky, he seems to be a step behind.
everett should be on the dl if his shoulder is so bad he can't make that throw.
they've had spring training and going on 3 weeks to COACH gomez and he should know by now the difference between bunting for a hit and a sacrifice.
if you don't pinch hit for punto in the 9th there is no reason to keep monroe on the team, the worst hitter in baseball last yr up and monroe sits on the bench. someone said who plays 3rd who cares they have to tie the game before it even matters. stick tolbert at 3rd or leave monroe there for an inning.
it is hard to say anything bad about the starting pitching, but the magical relief group has been suspect on most occasions and is at this point not the teams strong point.
my hope is that after a game where the coaches were sleeping next to the heater to stay warm this doesn't put this "young" team in a long tail spin.
that was as ugly as it gets!
