Before that, he is even - one good, one bad. But that firing will be because of RESULTS only, not because he is a poor batting coach. Because none of us on the outside has a clue WHAT he is teaching, IF it is different from the MLB norms, or IF it is inferior in any way to MLB norms. AFTER this season, if Vavra ’s totals are one good season (2006) and two bad seasons (2007-2008), then you can fire him because of bad RESULTS.
Before that, he is even - one good, one bad.

And this season (to date) hitting has been a bigger problem. I don't think that Vavra is the problem and I think that its too soon to assume that the hitting will not improve. We still have many hitters who are performing below their career norms. (Young, Lamb, Kubel, Cuddyer, Everett and others) I doubt that they are following Vavra's orders to fail and as a result have no chance to start hitting.
