The Twins placed infielder Nick Punto back on the 15-day disabled list after Thursday’s 3-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.

Punto has a strained left hamstring and will have a magnetic resonance imaging exam on Friday. He re-aggravated the injury last weekend right after coming off the DL and has been trying to play through the pain.

Today, he went 2-for-3 with two doubles, raising his average to .288. But he was clearly hobbled, and Manager Ron Gardenhire decided it was time to shelve Punto again.

The Twins have recalled Matt Macri from Class AAA Rochester. Actually, Macri was on at the Twin Cities airport, getting ready to fly to Buffalo, N.Y., and the Twins reached him before he boarded his flight. He grabbed his luggage and will join the Twins’ team flight to Chicago.
