Cabrera was not a free agent. The Tigers had to give up better prospects than we had at the time to get him. Then they signed him for seven years and $150 million, lest they lose him to free agency at the end of this year. He's hitting about what Kubel is hitting this year, and unable to play in the field competently. I would not call that a wise investment.

cmathewson says:

Costs to much to sign him we just want fill in type players. We are cheap

The consensus best third baseman on the free agent market was Mike Lamb. Signing free agents is rarely the answer.

Cabrera, but he is now being played at 1st. But he is a third baseman

Jimmie, give it a rest. In case you haven't noticed, we're on the road, playing outdoors, in largely the same weather that we have had in Minnesota. It just takes a day or two for it to get to Chicago and Cleveland. We have played on wet fields, and had a couple of rain delays, but no rain-outs. We even got in a make-up game. That's baseball. If you want a roof, follow hockey or basketball.

Seeing Anthony LaPanta getting hit by lightning. PRICELESS!!!!

That's pretty funny, if you like gallows humor. I just wonder if his piece is fire-proof.
