Livan Hernandez will face his former team tonight, when the Twins open a three-game series against the Washington Nationals.

Hernandez needs a good start after going 0-3 with a 9.38 ERA in his past six outings. He has allowed more than two hits per inning in those six starts.

Updates to come…

Update (6:10 p.m.): Nick Punto (strained left hamstring) played eight or nine innings in an intrasquad game today in Fort Myers, Fla., and will begin a rehab assignment for Class A Fort Myers on Thursday. The Twins want him to play three full games this time.

He is eligible to come off the DL on Saturday, and if all goes well, he will rejoin the team for the San Diego series, which begins next Tuesday.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was fined an unspecified amount for the Twins not complying with MLB’s pace of game regulations Sunday. Houston manager Cecil Cooper was fined, too.
