If the player then doesn't succeed, it is the players fault, not the manager. Seems that the right call was made. Lefty in to face a Left handed hitter. If it was 3 righties in there in the 8th, then yes, you would have grounds to complain about Reyes. Blackburn was banging on the door of 100 pitches, with a lefty scheduled up 2nd in the 8th.
