Francisco Liriano said he was as nervous as he’s been since he first came to the big leagues in September 2005, but he tossed six scoreless innings, as the Twins defeated Cleveland 6-2 today at the Metrodome.

The Royals defeated the White Sox 14-3, so the Twins moved into first place for the first time since May 13.

Twins pitching coach Rick Anderson said Liriano will make his next start on Saturday at Kansas City. The Twins want to split up Liriano and fellow lefthander Glen Perkins the next time through the rotation, so it will go:

Monday at Seattle: Perkins
Tuesday at Seattle: Baker
Wednesday at Seattle: Blackburn

Friday at Kansas City: Slowey
Saturday at Kansas City: Liriano
Sunday at Kansas City: Baker

Aug. 11 vs. Yankees: Perkins
Aug. 12 vs. Yankees: Blackburn
Aug. 13 vs. Yankees: Slowey
