The Twins (62-49) and White Sox (61-49) are even in the loss column, and the Twins will put that half-game lead on the line tonight in Seattle.

Chicago is idle before opening a three-game series against the Tigers (55-56) on Tuesday at U.S. Cellular Field.

While the Twins got their Francisco Liriano boost on Sunday, the other two AL Central contenders wallowed in bad news. Interesting reading the Detroit Free Press and the Chicago Tribune today.

Jim Leyland sounded exasperated before Sunday’s loss at Tampa Baybefore Kyle Farsnsworth gave up three runs to blow a lead in the eighth inning and before Fernando Rodney gave up two in the 10th to blow another lead.

“I’m ashamed. Maybe I’ve got them overrated. I take it personally.”

The Chicago Tribune called it “Black Sunday” for the White Sox. Besides falling from first place, they learned third baseman Joe Crede won’t be ready to return from the DL on Wednesday because of lingering problems with his back.

Also, here’s Ozzie Guillen on the team’s pitchers: “They stink.”
