Game 2 pregame: Twins/Orioles
Posted on September 13th, 2008 – 7:31 PMBy Joe Christensen
BALTIMORE — Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Boof Bonser injured his back in the seventh inning of the Twins’ 12-2 victory over the Orioles in Game 1 of their doubleheader.
Bonser strained something in his back, but it’s unclear if this will keep him out for any length of time, Gardenhire said.
(*) Gardenhire had planned to let Justin Morneau be his DH for Game 2, but late in the Game 1 victory, Morneau told Gardenhire he wanted to play first base again. Gardenhire said he had planned to use Brendan Harris at first.
(*) Scott Baker said he was heading back to pitch the seventh inning in Game 1 before the Twins stretched their lead from 4-1 to 7-1. This allowed Gardenhire to pull Baker with 94 pitches, which will help him get ready to pitch Wednesday on three day’s rest.
Baker said he’ll be ready, and Gardenhire seems to like the idea but said no decision has been made.

Who’s this Adam Everett fellah? How about Randy Ruiz - isn’t he a boxer?
Looks like Gardy is fine with 1 out of 2 today.
6-0, orioles
Boof hurt his back…
ok, Punto is out of the lineup….all the haters can be happy…heck even those that kinda like the little guy are probably happy. A well deserved game off.
![]()
Why does Punto start every @#$%$#@ game?
He isn’t?
My bad!
“ok, Punto is out of the lineup….all the haters can be happy…heck even those that kinda like the little guy are probably happy. A well deserved game off.”
Punto is the second worst position player in the majors. It’s a shame that Everett is the worst
Watch, Gardy will pinch hit for Everett in his first at bat
What time is first pitch?
“Punto is the second worst position player in the majors. It’s a shame that Everett is the worst”
I’d rather go with the opinion of someone who has a clue.
“Beltre opts for surgery next week”
Romer, this must be bad news for you!
Comparing the Lineups:
1. Denard Span, RF
SAME
2. Alexi Casilla (Tolbert)
Not bad, but I would have liked to see Casilla in there again.
3. Joe Mauer, C
Obviously a drop-off, but Red Dog is one of the better backups.
4. Justin Morneau, 1B
SAME
5. Jason Kubel, DH
Obvious choice with a lefty on the mound.
6. Delmon Young, LF
SAME
7. Brian Buscher, 3B
Harris has been pretty productive this season. What about Macri?
8. Nick Punto, SS
Everett? Not so sure about this one. How about Tolbert with Casilla at second?
9. Carlos Gomez, CF
SAME
Is gardy serious? This is a playoff chase starting lineup?
He says he is nervous to mijares in a game because it can create a mess. What about this lineup? Where is mauer? He can’t DH?
By the way, does Gardy know it is not mandatory to have your catcher hit 3rd even if it is not mauer? I like redmond as a backup, but not may teams plug in a bench player in the 3 hole each time he starts!
I personally would like to see Delmon bat third vs. Redmond
Hit for span…
“Major League Level” - third time
Redmond HAS to bunt here
Doesn’t have to as the runners do it themselves.
Hit a Grand Salami Morne!
124 RBI, tied for the lead!
he is awesome!
yay 33
Is it too late for Gardy to re-do the lineup?
As a voter for the MVP award…I’m being influenced….
With Quentin hurt and Morneau with the RBI lead the MVP race should be pretty interesting!
Randy Ruiz hollar
This game couldn’t have started worse for the O’s
Gotta re-do that lineup!
Those who were nervous about the lineup…remember who we are playing. ![]()
gardy looks like genius
i think it must be uncomfortable with that horseshoe in his back pocket
harris is going yard
If it works, blame the opponents or luck.
Nice save!
morneau is definitely the most VALUABLE player. without him, the twins are nothing. it all depends on how the voters vote. best numbers or most valuable. hopefully morneau will finish with the best numbers and just make it an easy decision.
anyways, this twins team looks hungry. i think this road trip will be different than the last one.
Wow, this lineup has produced EARLY
sane, do you seriously think this is what gardy planned when he put pen to paper? You have had too much TC kool-aid if that is the case.
Whatever works is fine with me.
Even theie ball boys can’t field. Right thorugh the 5 hole
Unfortunately MLB officials read Tim’s post and assumed the Twins were forfeiting tonight’s game.
These results will be erased following the end of this inning.
is it raining there at all right now? anyone?
looks like its in the forecast tonight. i hope they can get 5 innings
Another big hit for gomez
sane, do you seriously think this is what gardy planned when he put pen to paper?
No. You’re right. Gardy game into tonight’s game completely willing to accept a loss in this game.
If you thought Kool-Aid was a problem on the Strib boards…I’m practically drowning in the Haterade around here.
Pulled before the end of the first. Ouch.
A little Hateraide is always good
It doesn’t look like rain Jeff. But the Twins sure brought the thunder…
If I’m Gardy, I beg the umps to let this either go 5 if it does start…or I beg to register this as a suspended game.
Yeah, its the Kool-Aid.
That, and Gardy out-smarting the blog just makes me happier than a pig in shit.
Pulled before the end of the first. Ouch.
.2 IP, 6 ER.
Is that an ERA of 81 on the night?
offense is contagious
Now, hold back the rain.
Gomez with 11 RBIs in 28 AB in Sept. looking good for the stretch run!
just makes me happier than a pig in shit.
Which ironically enough describes about 90% of the comments around here.
That’s an 81.81 ERA for the night
“Pulled before the end of the first. Ouch.
.2 IP, 6 ER.
Is that an ERA of 81 on the night?”
We call that a Boof Bonsian effort.
Also going unnoticed amidst the chaos…Morneau I believe has just tied Hamilton (aka Josh Christ) for the RBI lead.
Just wish gardy would have run that lineup out last thursday against kc.
it must be nice for him to have the luxury of picking which games he wants to win. I wish he would string it together long enough to get us some breathing room in the division.
Lets hope Perkins can put the orioles down 123…and get the twins back up
I was kind of hoping Olsen could pitch for all the Twins opponents the rest of the season…looks like he’d clear waivers!
Orioles pitchers are good medicine for Go-Go.
It’s like sending him to AAA to work on his hitting and still having him available for defense.
Do you think ESPN would report if the twins scored 54 runs in the game?
Ball four looked pretty good to me…
GEtting to the O’s pen early may mean a showdown between the twins and Brian BAss…lets hope so
You’d think Perkins could get over that wall considering the Twins built a 6-run step ladder tonight.
Ha Ha Ha Tim,
Not 6-0, Orioles, 6-0 TWINS - IN THE FIRST INNING.
Wow. 18 runs in like 3 1/2 hours? My head is spinning here.
“it must be nice for him to have the luxury of picking which games he wants to win” My nomination for the idiotic comment of the day
Thank you Glen Perkins! Waste the lead!
come on perk
Perkins apparently hates leads.
ugh! why can’t he pitch with a big lead?
Come on Perkins, don’t nibble. Get them out. Ooops, lets not hand it back on a silver platter…. 6 - 1, 2 in scoring position.
Well, Perkins doesn’t want a win today, that is apparent
Is Perk the one who does not pitch well with the lead??
Stop the bleeding now, Young almost misplayed out into a double.
Well… here we go again…
14-3 USC
Wow…that was odd.
Delmon, Delmon, Delmon
Don’t ever do that again
delmon is goin to give me a heart attack
No, it is baker who doesn’t pitch well with leads
Nice, and needless, basket catch
Young almost misplayed 2nd out in row into double, is it really windy or what?
I’m convinced Go-Go will have the first-ever F8….
No, its the bullpen that doesn’t pitch well with leads.
Although pitching with big leads isn’t exactly a strong point for Perkins…
way to keep my attention delmon
don’t forget crain, guerrier, reyes, breslow and bonser to the list of guys that don’t like to pitch with a big lead.
Twins picking up where they left off.
Lead off triple!
They got a dozen for Baker, how about a Baker’s dozen for Perk?
Hopefully, he won’t need it, but get it anyway.
Although pitching isn’t exactly a strong point for Perkins…
Fix’d. ![]()
Score 30 runs twins!
and the hits just keep coming
Randor Beard???? Isn’t he the one who fights in the stone cicrle death match in that cars.com commercial??
T, for a second I thought I actually said that…
baltimore is bad
How is it that you’ve got Morneau and Redmond running the bases and can’t turn that DP?
Ruiz popped up a cookie.
i think Ruiz popped up the oofus goofus
And Young pops up another cookie.
It was a fairly slow grounder
Twins go from being on track to score 54 runs to scoring only 32.
I would be happy if the twins can score at least 14 in this game
Great play by Everett
1, 2, 3?!?
Juan Castro. Oh the memories…
Great play by everett and Morneau
Glove save and a beauty.
Juan Castro looks just about the same
Juan Castro!
Perkin’s twin brother pitched much better in the 2nd inning than Perkins pitched in the 1st inning.
Can’t any of the Oriole pitchers throw strikes? Yikes.
Perkin’s twin brother pitched much better in the 2nd inning than Perkins pitched in the 1st inning.
Shades of Kyle and his evil twin Lyle from back in the bat-girl days.
Terrible Ab for everett
Did anybody else just notice that Ullger’s wearing the wrong sided helmet? (The ear flap is covering the side away from the plate)
Shades of Kyle and his evil twin Lyle from back in the bat-girl days.
Plen Gerkins….
Like the pickle?
“Shades of Kyle and his evil twin Lyle from back in the bat-girl days.”
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm……..Batgirl!
No way that pitch was a strike
Umps should not bail out this pitcher who is having trouble throwing strikes.
“Did anybody else just notice that Ullger’s wearing the wrong sided helmet? (The ear flap is covering the side away from the plate)”
Ullger plans to turn and run on line drives hit at him.
Maybe they are trying to speed up the game…
21-3 USC
Span the man
Is anybody else wondering how different the Santana trade would’ve been if Span had shown signs he was capable of this LAST YEAR?
On another Ullger related note…does anybody else think that he looks like the Janitor from Scrubs?
Sometimes I do, but who would have the twins gotten in return?
Second question, no
Wow, two triples in a row!
WTG Tolbert!
Ladies and gentlemen, Matt Tolbert.
Twins bringing the hitting shoes…as well as the pants, jerseys, and helmets.
Tolbert’s SLG % is going up, up, up!
“Sometimes I do, but who would have the twins gotten in return?”
Lester, Lowrie, Masterson and Bowden?
I really think the Red Sox where only in the race just for the show
Sometimes I do, but who would have the twins gotten in return?
I would guess they’d have been in the market for a 3B or SS so they wouldn’t have had to sign both Everett and Lamb.
He’s hit 66.6% of his triples in his last two ABs.
Is it too risky to mention that when/if the Twins win this, they will be tied for 1st? And given the good probability that the Sox will not win both games that got rained out today, you might even say they are as good as in first. But I won’t mention this cuz I don’t wanna jinx them.
Tolbert has scored 3 runs and it is the third inning!
Twins currently on pace for a modest 30 runs tonight.
10 runs already. Wow!
Another ball pulled by Redmond…
The Twins saw the 3 rainouts in two days for the Sox and recognized there was a window to make a BIG push.
And they shattered that window. ![]()
Think about it, the Twins might have ended up with Phil Hughes and/or Ian Kennedy. I am very happy that did not happen. Those guys have done nothing but stink things up this year. Masterson and Lester, now I could handle that.
Every time the Twins get 12 runs in a game they get held to 10 or fewer in the next game, by some AAA pitcher!
this is a lot more fun than thursday.
let’s go perk, no gerk.
Good time to rest Mauer. Morneau might be taken out soon too if pitching holds up.
“let’s go perk, no gerk.”
what?
Please Perkins, pitch into the sixth
“let’s go perk, no gerk.”
what?
evil twin reference…scroll up a little bit.
Perkins throw strikes! You have a big lead!
Everett pulled a Jeter?
Perkins cannot pitch against the Sox in a scheduled start. Not at all comfortable with that.
Even if the O’s score once every inning from here on out, they still lose.
evil twin reference…scroll up a little bit.
Except I think this time Gerkins is the one we want on the mound.
Twins are 3rd in the league in Runs Scored?
FIRE VAVRA!
And FIRE GARDY!
Ok Perkins has settled down a bit now.
O Perkins
Except I think this time Gerkins is the one we want on the mound.
Maybe, lol. But I thought Gerkins would be the one who’s always in a pickle?
Not to worry.
Good Perkins pitches next inning.
Unless Gardy has to pull both of the Perkins twins.
Wow, perkins is really bad today.
Perkins! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
He is horrible.
Perkins doing his best impersonation of a batting cage pitching machine
He needs to be taken out of the rotation asap.
6 runs in three innings is unacceptable
How is Livan Perkins doing? Has he eaten more than 2 2/3 innings? Is the 6th inning blowup early. What professionalism!!!
ok… about time Perkins goes out.
Time to get Perkins out of there. Once again, this game has “LOSS” written all over it… even with a 4-run lead.
It sure is. When Twins scored 10 runs. Throw strikes and this inning would not have been so bad.
Are we adjusting the rotation so Perkins faces the White Sox?
Can we re-think that?
Korecky warming
What a sad performance by Glen Perkins
Is Boof officially better than Perk?
Perkins is turrible…just turrible.
They have to readjust so he doesn’t. It is unacceptable to have Perkins pitch in that important of a game. Gardy has completely lost his mind if he allows that to happen.
The Twins may have to score 20 runs to tie.
Has boof ever won ten games?
I think he got a big head winning ten games, then won a couple more, head got bigger, now he’s going through deflation period. Seriously, look at the size of his hat.
At least Gardy was able to cool off Ruiz’s bat.
Time for Gardy to go with a 4 man rotation
No other team has scored 10 runs today. The twins did it twice.
The fans inBalitmore are extremely annoying!
Someone shut that drunk fan up please.
That one fan yelling right no must either be very drunk or very stupid.
Or both.
“Rodimus Liz” ?
Is that the guy that transformers into a race car?
They need to kick him out.
Time to pull Perkins, and make him be the pitcher to go on 3 days rest in Cleveland. He could then get skipped with the off day before the White Sox series
This was a very Humbering outing
johnnyonspot,
If a big head is the problem, tonight’s game should cure the problem.
Unfortunately, there may be more mechanical issues involved.
11 runs, get more please
Nice job Everett. Not sure how you can concentrate with that fan.
Gomez did it on purpose to clock that obnoxious fan.
AE motivated by the loudmouth fan, smells the ribeye
Gomez smelling the blood of the fan on his bat…
The guy (or girl) has to lose his voice sometime..
Twins dropping to just a 25 run pace.
Korecky is coming in…
“Twins dropping to just a 25 run pace”
That’s not enough!
Perkins does not deserve a win in this game. Plain and simple.
Three innings… pretty sorry. I like the plan of bringing him back on 3 days rest, leeping him out of the Chisox series. Good plan.
two or three innings for Korecky would be nice
“Major League Level” - 4th time
I liked the notion of pulling Perkins, as I posted before, but how pathetic is it that out O got an 11 spot and the starter still couldn’t go 5 for the win?
gotta be punto’s fault.
Please, don’t let the O’s score. Please.
nibble, nibble, nibble
Bring back Mijares!
I don’t think offense is really the Orioles problem.
Now Korecky is too afraid to throw strikes? I guess if I was bringing what he is bringing, I’d nibble too.
The game is about to be 11-10
“Major League Level” - fifth time
Guerrier is warming. This game is officially lost.
Korecky is wetting himself.
Bring in Mijares.
Thank the good lord!
He put up a zero the hard way
Score some more runs twins. No 1-2-3 inning.
Just keeping the game exciting.
Bobby just wanted the heart of the O’s order out of the way for next inning.
Bring in Liriano.
Thank goodness.
Now if we can kick a field goal, we can stay one touchdown ahead.
Hit another triple Tolbert.
Denard gets hit on purpose.
Our bullpen still has to load the bases to get out of it with no runs scored. At this point, nwe’ll take it I guess. It is very unsettling though.
who pitches tomorrow is it blackburn?
Wow. O’s bullpen sucks more than ours.
Charles Barkley,
“Bad team, man, bad f-ckimg team!”
Pull another ball Red Dog!
Anyone else think there are too many innings in a baseball game? Did not feel that way until recently.
So, who gets drilled for the O’s?
Rocky Cherry!
“Rocky Cherry”?
Seriously?
who pitches tomorrow is it blackburn?
Nick Blackburn, RHP (10-8, 3.67) vs. Radhames Liz, RHP (5-5, 7.75)
Sounds like an ice cream flavor.
Sounds like an ice cream flavor.
gil,
Blackburn tomorrow.
Then Slowey, Liriano and ??????
Is suddenly hungry for some rocky road, with a cherry on top
thanks
What? Span looked safe to me. That is a horrible call by the ump.
o’s get my vote for best names for a bullpen staff
Wow. Ump was in horrible position to make that call.
b.s. call big time
and at third base, stevie wonder
bad call but why is he running there?
Thank you ump, that run might actually mean something. Twins should have scored a run on a sac fly. Bonehead.
Twins now on pace for…
Awww hell with it.
Should be 12-6!
Just lost a sure run to a bad call. Span would have scored on that sac fly.
Why are Orioles getting helped? Are these guys White Sox fans?
bad call but why is he running there?
It’s “only” a 5-run lead with the way the O’s have been hitting.
Not to mention they hit Span for doing nothing more than hitting well. It’s not like he was showing off.
“bad call but why is he running there?”
To get to 3B with one out.
It makes sense.
It had better not matter.
ump! Argh!!!!
Keep nibbling…
or if you get called out on a close play it is inning over with flyball to rf.
stealing 3rd with 3 and 4 coming up is not a risk worth taking in my opinion
Don’t know why pitchers try to nibble. It hardly ever works.
28-3 USC
Anyone that thought OU had a chance is an idiot.
3rd hitter is Redmond, not a real #3 hitter.
Korecky is better able to focus at the major-league level with a five-run lead. Five-plus, uncharted water.
A 1-2-3 inning it’s been awhile since a Twins pitcher has had one.
all right! past the 5th!
hopefully it will start to rain
Let’s score two or three runs this inning. Starting with a Morneau HR.
A 1-2-3 inning it’s been awhile since a Twins pitcher has had one.
Actually, Perk or Gerk, whomever that was, had one in the 2nd of this game. So not that long.
35-23 Gophers!
i agree see my post at 7:40
Ruiz is swinging a really bad bat.
If you have friends in Baltimore, ask them to wash their car ASAP.
can cuddy hit for ruiz?
This ump’s K-Zone is getting bad. Even WITH the erratic pitchign.
Looks like the offense has shut down for the night…
Looks like the offense has shut down for the night…
They’ve scored 11 runs. The pitching needs to do SOME work tonight…
“can cuddy hit for ruiz?”
Mauer can hit for Ruiz, with Jorgenson on the bench.
it doesn’t feel like 11 will be enough tonight. that is a bad feeling
But I want 20 runs!
Here come the runs for the O’s…
just thinking rh for rh as the dh
no need to have one of the leading hitters in the AL play in this game (fyi, that is sarcasm)
lets get 21 and break the twins record for dh
It is going to happen. O’s are going to score some runs.
I think 30 pitches might be korecky’s limit
Korecky losing Casto 0-2 could come back to haunt us this inning. Breslow…
“Major League Level” - Sixth time
just checked baltimore radar
no rain in sight…
Korecky’s 2.1 innings could be huge tomorrow. It isn’t like he is a huge guy in our bullpen, so it’s kinda like our starter went 5.1 which would have been decent.
Big K for Breslow
Do you guys think Perkins will bounce back in Tampa?
I can’t tell of the future.
Ok, this is going to be bad.
Where is Breslow throwing the ball????
What an idiot, swinging on a 3-2 pitch. THANK YOU!
3-0 pitch that is
Wow! Way to recover!
mora bailed us out there!
he might be hitting that first year starter wall. i don’t know if i buy that or not the way the twins protect pitchers but he seemed to have nothing on his fastball.
he has to be better in tampa
It was all part of the plan to get Mora to chase the 3-0 pitch. Man, thank God we are playing the O’s.
None of those were strikes! Thank you Melvin Mora!
Harris knew that was gone right away
Harris says: “This is my boomstick!”
Span’s 2nd was still cooler. He actually spun himself into the ground hitting that one out.
When has a 3-run home run EVER felt like a solo HR?
The drunk fan is back.
Gomez walks twice in one ‘day’!
When has a 3-run home run EVER felt like a solo HR?
The 3-run homer in the first game was a shot, but the game was already out of hand by then.
The solo shot there extends the lead just when they thought they had the Twins shut down finally.
Turned his left ankle slightly, no biggie
GOMEZ has an OPS of 0.853 this month and Span is at 0.918…
The young guys are competitive. I like that.
they will be fun to watch for many years
Not to Mention Morneau at 1.039 OPS for SEPT. I just wish our pitching could figure it out for the Pennant race.
last year we were complaining about offense not supporting the pitching
future looks good for our squad
if we can get strong at 3rd base and the bullpen…
Is Aubrey Huff available next year? I thought I heard that somewhere…? He would look nice playing for the Twins at 3rd.
Ball should have been caught
Delmon is not exactly fleet of foot.
Two bloop singles so far
hope they keep it up when I’m there tommorrow
Wow. Does he play pretty much at the warning track? Looks like he ran about 100 feet on that one.
Throw strikes, the guy is hitting .180
He is about to walk the pitcher
The Twins pretty much always play their outfielders deep.
He walked the pitcher, what an idiot
But the O’s are a horrible team and they don’t make Breslow pay…
Nice night for Harris at the plate. For sure, he’ll be riding the pine tomorrow and the rest of the season. Does anyone notice how much livelier the lineup is without a certain little person?
they make seattle look like the big red machine
You mean the same lineup that scored 12 runs earlier today? No, I hadn’t noticed.
Perhaps Cuddy will bat for Ruiz…
Damn Breslow has been solid tonight. Made things a little interesting, but what a performance.
The walk total is climbing in this game. It shouldn’t though. With a lead you need to throw strikes and not ‘nibble’
Ruiz is not allowed to DH anytime soon
Just browsing the stats on mlb.com, is Mauer the only player with more walks than k’s? 77 Walks to 47 K’s? Next closest is Pedroia at 47-48.
Twins have 3 SOs today. Ruiz has half of them.
Out of all former MVP’s playing in the league today, I bet none would run as hard to first base on a groundout to the pitcher as Morneau just did. Great to see hustle like that and it sets a good example for the extra new guys in the dugout.
“Twins have 3 Sos today. Ruiz has half of them.”
Never to math in public, gatty.
The Twins will win the division. Unless the White Sox win it.
If the twins trade an out for a run. Twins win.
…Never DO math…
And I shouldn’t do spelling in public, either.
Yeah, twins have 6 SOs that is, not 3. But one of them was on a check swing…

Throw strikes. Stop nibbling.
Harris, Harris, Harris
A good throw beats him by three steps.
Come on Reyes, is it that hard to throw strikes?
Reyes…
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
This guy hasn’t been good news in a long, long time.
Hah, this is the last game Harris will get in for the season….. bad error….
Shawn,
Hope we didn’t use up ALL the runs today.
Just got back from the DH, left 2nd game after top of 3rd when score 10-2 (She who bosses us all wanted to go today after sitting through 2 hours of rain last night. She thought it was going to be a day/night deal). We left a Twins fan from Seattle in charge, and by the time we were out of the parking lot it was 10-6.
Through most of the first game predominant Twins crowd. Turned to 60/40 Orioles by the 2nd game.
Miljares looks like the spitting image of Reyes.
Regards,
That was the Twins 100th error of the season…ouch!
Delmon is the only twins player not to have an RBI in this game
“Miljares looks like the spitting image of Reyes.”
I thought it was Reyes or Guardado. After figuring out who it was, I told my wife that it’s apparant that if you’re a Hispanic pitcher for the Twins, you have to be more than slightly overweight.
What about Liriano?
I thought his wind up and delivery look like CC’s. I guess Humber won’t be pitching on Wed…
Drunk Fan is back
Surprised Baltimore has gotten only the 6 runs. BP has been on a tightrope all night. They have been getting out of trouble for once though. Thank goodness.
Good point Skip…guess I should’ve said Hispanic Twins bullpen pitchers instead….
I finally figured out what he is saying: Melvin Mora
hope they have a few left in em tommorrow…. While I keep up a the vikes on this phone
Drunk fan should have been removed by now.
Drunk fan should have been arrested for disruption of the peace…
Forgive me gentleman, but is tomorro’s game on MY TV or whatever that network is called?
Reminds me of the playoff games in 2006 in Oakland where the crowd kept chanting “Mar-co Scu-taro”….
I actually heard drunk fan yell out a comparison between one of our guys and Torii Hunter. He seems like the type of guy you want to ignore but have to hide your laughs at because he’s actually kind of funny
Tough strike zone
Throw strikes! GRRRRR
Dick made a pretty interesting point. He mentioned that Humber was a starting pitcher in AAA ball, then asked why he’d be starting the inning from the stretch right now with nobody on. Good question. Maybe to hopefully prepare for a spot in the bullpen come playoff time?
8 pitches, 1 strike
Better get Nathan warmed
Get the married men out of the infield!
Winning Season!
Nice job. DP. Twins need that because the pitchers obviously are allergic to throwing strikes.
Two in a row on the road. Good confidence builder.
Alright! Still was a little more nerve wracking then it needed to be thanks to Perk.
season over anyone?
how did mijares look?
How can anyone say that Ruiz is an unsung hero when he had three strike outs?
Mijares, Korecky and Humber, or
Crain, Guerrier and Reyes?
He looked good, on his strike out his fastball hit 95, but was around 93 with his fastball for the most part.
Gophers and Twins on Saturday: 3-0.
Vikings and Twins on Sunday: 2-0?
If so this could be a great weekend for MN sports.
Mijares, Guerrier, Reyes
gatty,
That’s why he was unsung.
K-Rod about to get save 58. Impressive but I still think Morneau deserves MVP more than him.
sane-
I’ll go with the former of your choices. Gardy threw in mostly unproven guys and the bullpen he played tonight did well.
K-Rod as MVP? HELL NO!! Dennys Reyes could have 58 saves on a team like the Angels this year. I’m only kind of kidding.
How can you not like Redmond, and his attitude.
8-6 the rest of the way gets us 90 wins and gets FIRE VAVRA.. a new moniker.
…but not a new personality.
Thumbs up for tolbert tonight.
so are we tied for first place now?
Technically yes, but the winning % of the twins is slightly less
gil,
Percentage points behind in 2nd place.
whatever, I’ll take it
first place!
K-Rod has 58
technically, it’s percentage point. as in singular.
Good first 2 since I got to md, if they win tommorrow I might have to stay
K-Rod has 58 saves.
Congratulations who probably can’t even look his own teammates in the eye because he knows he’d be lulled away by more money if he could get it.
Shawn,
Miljares looked good, although my perspective from the stands doesn’t mean much. 1-2-3 inning with K and a long fly ball to RF.
I spent the whole inning trying to convince myself that it wasn’t Reyes.
Regards,
** should have read “congratulations TO THE GUY who..**
I hate to c–p on the birthday cake, but we started our last roadtrip 2-0 also. (against the Angels!)
dan
angels have lots of dough that they will throw at him
AAAhhhh sane you ruined the cake!
maybe so, sane, but it sure is fun while it lasts …
I’m sorry.
I should have kept the wet towel to myself.
And it IS fun!
better than 0-2
K-Rod will be a Met next year.
Definitely a good day. I know it’s cliche, but it’s hard to beat any time twice in that amount of time. Twins did it and you really can’t point to anything that stuck out negatively, other than a bad start by Perkins, but who cares we have a solid bullpen right?
Either way this puts a lot of pressure on the White Sux for their doubleheader tomorrow. Here’s hoping for a 6-0 Minnesota Sports weekend.
6 shutout innings for the bully
6-0 Minnesota weekend? That could mean the Twins, the Vikings, and the Gophers could be in first place. That doesn’t happen too often.
Did everyone leave this board already?
I think Denard might finish 2nd in the ROY voting. That is pretty cool.
These wins were great.
Just a couple of things:
I hope Bonser is ok. He apparently gained most of the weight he lost during the offseason back, and this could be an issue..
The Twins can bring up to 8-10 more players from the minors (I just don’t have time to do the math now) Gardy and Smithy should get as many pitchers up as possible including Delaney, Slama and Gomez to help the team for the stretch run
Perkins gotta be in the pen. Get Swarzak up and have him, Perkins and Humphrey share Perkins’ next starts
The pressure is on the Sox and I hope Detroit delivers
Humphrey ?
Ny guess:
Humphrey=Humber at midight.
Ny guess = My guess at 5:47 AM.
