I totally agree that Breslow should have stayed in for the first two batters of the 8th or go with Reyes. Guardado is third or maybe even fourth on the depth chart for lefties because I'd probably go with Mijares ahead of him. Eddie should have been sparred for possible extra innings.

There simply is no excuse for bringing Eddie into the game in the 8th with our 1 run lead. And, I like Eddie.

His ERA over the last 4 weeks, most of which is with us, is: 11.57. For the season, lefties are hitting .218 and righties .270 against Eddie.

Breslow's ERA over the last 4 weeks is 0.93! For the season, lefties are hitting .200 and righties .225 against Breslow.

No excuse for the inexplicable pitching change. No logic. No excuse. Mind numbing.

DAVE:
Only half the game is played at the plate, so I suppose he leaves those guys in for defense. I have to admit, when Martinez hit that homer, I thought Gomez was going to scale the fence, jump, and fly up and catch that ball.

Does Gardenhire get credit for hitting over .300 with RISP? Because that's the only reason they are where they are right now. I would argue that Gardenhire quit managing the game after it was tied 9-9. Carlos Gomez should not get any more meaningful bats in late innings this season. To not PH for him is ridiculous. Also, why can't Punto ever be pinch hit for? Does Gardenhire forget that he is a utility infielder and they have an expanded roster? He has 2 HR and 26 RBI and he plays every day. I think there had to be someone on the bench who had a better probability to drive in runs with the bases loaded.
