CLEVELAND — The Twins will announce their 2009 schedule shortly after noon today.

The Twins will open the season April 6, at the Metrodome against Seattle. The final home opener at the Dome. Look for more highlights after the announcement.

And, no, this doesn’t mean the Twins are waving the white flag on their 2008 season after Tuesday night’s gutwrenching loss. Major League Baseball had planned to announce the full schedule today.

I don’t know - they might as well throw up the white flag. It was a nice run…

I am not giving up yet, but it seems unlikely. Having 4 more in TB is going to be tough. The Whities have looked equally weak on the road though, don’t put it passed them to blow this weekend heading into Minn.

Well, the Mariners opened the dome in 1982 and they’ll play the final home opener in 2009. I remember listening to that game like it was yesterday. Pete Redfern on the mound for the Twins. A lot of hits and runs on that crazy turf and I said to myself this could be a long year. It was 60-102.

I really hope we don’t have a hangover going into 2009 like we did last year after the great run to end 2006.

I have an odd hobby of making Twins schedules when I’m bored at work. I have probably made 100 realistic 162-game Twins schedules over the years, accounting for everything: same number of weekend series, same number home/road games, etc. I think it’s kinda of like a puzzle trying to put it all together. I wanted to do that for a job until I found out the schedules are mostly created by computers today.

Yes, I am lame.

Tobias,
I read recently that doing crossword puzzles can stave off dementia. I’m sure that your activity will have the same results. Don’t flirt with dementia. Keep up the good work. At least when you reach those golden years you’ll know if you are lame or not.

Perfect timing with the release of the 2009 schedule! Done for 2008….

Last game at the Dome vs. the Royals, just like the Met. 3 game series at Wrigley against the Cubs should be a blast. Interleague at home vs. Milwaukee, Houston, Pittsburgh.

Wow, schedule #45 I came up with has a lot of the same games as the real ‘09 schedule, especially in August when 21 of the real games scheduled match up with mine.

Starting a week later this year? That pushes the WS to end about Nov 7. Should be lovely at Target Park that time of year, if we continue the same scheduling pattern in 2010, and the Twins make the WS as predicted.

The Curse of the Cuddyer has returned to the Twins. With Cuddyer in the dugout and in the lineup the Twins are cursed to lose the division race. Just look at how they have done since his return to the lineup. Cuddyer is not helping the Twins win and will not be of much help in the future. I know that Gardenhire is confused and thinks he has to put him in the lineup. Unfortunately, the Twins will lose the divison race because of poor judgement by thier manager Gardenhire. Punto has cost the Twins 2 wins in the last 10 days all by himself. With the addition of the weak clutch hitting Cuddyer, who carries a curse to lose the division championship, the Twins are sunk. Gardenhire is responsible for who is in the lineup and he should have known better than to play Punto regularly throughout the game, game after game. He also should not have Cuddyer in the lineup at all. Cuddyer is probably the most over-rated player in the major leagues. His arm in over-rated and is only average. He is clumsy and falls down or stumbled frequently. He is a strike out victim in most clutch situations. He also is kind of a clown who does not take the game serious, but only talks a good game. For the sake of the Twins future, both Punto and Cuddyer should be traded as soon as possible. The Twins could use more quality relief pitching.

willem with the way the Twins are going into a spiral of losses the relief pitching will not help one bit. I am sorry to say but I fear that the season is lost as of this point.

As I said I am happy to see the Twins coming to Chicago to play the Cubs. I will have to be careful since I work with many loyal Cubs fans ;)

How fitting that the 2009 schedule has come out. Its something to look forward to since there is nothing left for 2008 thanks to the myriad F-ups by Twins management, field and office, over the last nine months. Hopefully they will take some of the money they are saving by trading and letting star players go and find a couple good late-inning relievers, the lack of which is their number one flaw, and one that has been palpably obvious now for about three and a half months. Give these clowns one more year to show they can seriously compete in MLBA. If they fail again, together or apart, show them the door.
