sid:

Don't bother with Schizo herb/ed/tom/dick....he tends to come in once every few days and post the same idea from five different names in an attempt to make himself sound like he knows what he's talking about.

Because seriously, he's suggested trading Punto at least that much since the season ended.

Keep DY and move him to RF and Span to LF and put Cuddy at 3B; forget the trades and FA signings. Tolbert or Punto, same thing, so keep Tolbert and don't splurge on Punto.

I think the Twins could be taken seriously if they obtained Adrian Beltre to play third and acquired another solid relieve pitcher. It would also help them alot if they could bet Punto and Cuddyer off the roster and make room for some above average players.

The Twins simply do not have the history or ability to acquire a solid quality position player, such as a third baseman like Beltre. That is the reason they are known as the "Not quite good enought Twins." The Twins organization cannot complete with other teams for what is known as "Quality" in the Major Leagues, and it is also the reason they are not taken seriously as possible contenders from year to year. The organizaiton will either obtain a player who is over the hill or who is young and has not developed into a top notch player. They can grow their own players in their minor league system, but they cannot grow all the players they need to win a championship, and their habitual reluctance to spend money or trade for a quality third baseman is sad.

Alan Harrer,

That's all good and fine, and it Could happen. It's baseball. At the same time, it's baseball. That assuming a lot of things. We stay healthy, we actually improve, and 'Franchise' continues to do well. Lest we forget Joe Mays. He looked pretty good coming out of ST. He even did OK for a month or two. Then it fell apart. Just because a guy does it for a couple months, doesn't mean he's cured. I belive he is, but we'll see.

"(Having) Franchise for the whole year, may add 10 wins."

I doubt it. Livan held Liriano's spot, and he DID win 10 games. It's not like Liriano took the place of a 1-17 starter. 5 more wins out of that spot is more likely.

Lastly, a lot of these guys could suffer sophmore slumps. After all, there are, for all intensive purposes, a lot of sophmores on this team.
