Game 1 lineups: Twins/Red Sox
Posted on April 22nd, 2009 – 10:52 AMBy Joe Christensen
BOSTON — It’s gorgeous right now at Fenway Park. Partly cloudy, with sun splashing down on the field.
The Twins took batting practice, preparing for a day-night doubleheader. But more rain is in the forecast, especially for tonight.
Both teams kept their lineups intact. Jason Kubel has some stiffness in his neck, but he had a heating pad on there today, and he’s in the lineup.
Alexi Casilla, batting .196, had a heating pad wrapped around his bat. That got some good laughs in the clubhouse.
Gardy said the four players on the bench for Game 1 — Brendan Harris, Delmon Young, Brian Buscher and Jose Morales — will be in the lineup for Game 2.
Update: On the lower-right side of our Twins page, we now have links to the Twins’ minor-league sites, from Class AAA Rochester to Rookie-level E-Town.
Update (2:15 p.m.): The rain delay started at 1:46, and the tarp is on the field. The Twins trail 10-1. If they give us an update about a restart time, of if they call it (and declare Boston the winner), I’ll post it here.
Update (2:35 p.m.): Joe Mauer went 3-for-4 with a double, a sacrifice fly and one RBI in an extended spring training game today in Fort Myers, Fla. Mauer caught six innings and even caught a runner trying to steal.
