Cuddyer’s finger appears healthy in early BP

SEATTLE — I had some stories to finish for the Sunday paper and headed to Safeco Field, where the roof is open on a cool, but pleasant afternoon.
The Twins are taking early batting practice, which is their custom the first day of a road series. Anyway, I’m burying the lead here:
Michael Cuddyer, who has been out with a strained right index finger, just had an impressive round in the cage. First swing: Line drive to center field. Third swing: A shot over the left-center field wall. A few swings after that: A shot off the facing of the second deck in left field.
Cuddyer also seemed to have no trouble throwing the ball in the outfield. I get the feeling he’ll talk his way into the lineup tonight. Stay tuned.
