Monday lineups: Crede scratched with calf soreness

OAKLAND, CALIF. — Twins third baseman Joe Crede was scratched from tonight’s starting lineup because of a sore calf. The Twins will miss his righthanded bat against A’s lefthander Josh Outman.
Manager Ron Gardenhire said he opted against starting Jason Kubel because Outman has held lefthanded hitters to a .128 batting average, compared to .237 for righties. So Delmon Young is getting the start at DH.
Update: It’s Crede’s left calf.
“He fouled a ball off his calf [Sunday],” Gardenhire said. “His calf is really sore and tight, and you can’t take a chance by running him out there. It’s going to be cold out there tonight, and the trainers came in here and said it’d be better to give him a day here, and we’ll see where we’re at tomorrow.”
Update: The A’s placed outfielder Ryan Sweeney on the disabled list with a strained medical collateral ligament in his knee and have recalled Daric Barton from Class AAA Sacramento.
Update: A’s right fielder Aaron Cunningham left tonight’s game with a concussion and was taken to a local hospital for a CT-Scan. He was hit in the helmet with a fastball from Anthony Swarzak in the fourth inning.
