It looks like Swarzak will only get 1 start this time, assuming that Slowey will be ready to go on the 19th.

Nice post, Jim S. But got to take care of the business this week first. Like T said, we picked up a half game by not playing. Three extremely hard games with the Tigers only gained us one game. Can't lose that ground by giving some gifts to the Yanks and Sox before the AS break.

i like slowey he is bright and will continue to be a solid #3or 4 starter but in reality he has not pitched that well this year just okay with a lot of run support. i am not a satisfied fan until i see that era on any of the starters drop and remain below 4.0. wins are a nice stat but credibility in terms of consistency and helping your team win is the era. i see we have one pitcher who is demonstrating what we are hoping to see from our starting five and that is blackburn with nine straight appearances of three runs or less and at least 6 innings per appearance that is what pleases this fan and i believe all five starters have the ability to be where blackburn has gone. no doubt in the second half the twins will need solid and consistent good starting pitching to be in the pennant race, to date we are just beginning to see some of that from more than just blackburn and it is encouraging. it will take more than just one or two horses but the whole stable running at their best. i have hope we will see that and what a strong team the twins can be. how about the fantasy of closing the dome this year with a world series and opening the new park next year with another, starting pitching and getting delmon young to swing and hit with some authority are the keys in my mind.

Also: Twins pick up a half game in the Tigers by virtue of not playing today.

Des: Trading Span as part of a deal for Sanchez would be essentially breaking even as far as I see it...as the Twins are trading their leadoff hitter.
