CLEVELAND — Had a fun pregame media session with Manager Ron Gardenhire today. Lots of random topics.

We were talking about Scott Baker’s improved pace on the mound, and Gardenhire was asked which pitcher was the slowest worker, of all the ones he’d managed.

“Rick Reed,” Gardenhire said. “He was Father Time. He had birthdays during his starts. Not a birthday. Birthdays.”

Gardenhire was again asked about Orlando Cabrera’s positive influence on Carlos Gomez. Gardenhire said Cabrera asked Gomez, “If you can remember all the handshakes, how can you not remember the signs?”

Michael Cuddyer is back in the lineup for the first time since Friday. Cuddyer is the DH. Manager Ron Gardenhire said the team wants to ease Cuddyer into things before having him return to right field.
