According to Major League Baseball, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been fined but not suspended for his comments Friday toward umpire Hunter Wendelstedt.

Also, Mark Grudzielanek’s attempt to revive his career with the Twins has come to an end.

The Twins released Grudzielanek after Sunday’s game for Class AA New Britain, according to minor league director Jim Rantz.

Grudzielanek, 39, batted .267 (8-for-30) in eight games with New Britain and made two errors at second base.

“It just wasn’t the right fit,” Rantz told our La Velle Neal. “He’s a real pro. He thanked all the guys.”
