The Royals haven’t won a series since June 23-25, against Houston. They haven’t won a series against an American League team since May 6-7, against Seattle.

Kansas City is 2-11 in rubber games this season, with nine consecutive losses.

The last time Kansas City won a rubber game was May 3 at the Metrodome. Gil Meche pitched that day, too, as the Royals rallied for a 7-5 victory.

We’ll see what happens today, in Carl Pavano’s first star at the Metrodome as a Twin.

Update: Glen Perkins will not need surgery. The results of his second MRI showed no major damage. He is rehabbing the injury and could help the Twins in September.
