Halloween Postmortem

Peter and I have a Halloween tradition of making chili & cornbread twists and taking turns doling out fun-size bars to the trick-or-treaters. Due to the weather last night, we had very few come to the door. Which is probably a good thing, seeing as how I have been handling doorbell ringing and sleeping baby lately. So, the only thing scary about our Halloween happened when I went to open the Pillsbury Cornbread Twists. No matter how many times I have opened one of those cardboard cylinders it never fails to make me jump and yes, scream a little. You know, when the dough does it’s little startling explosion through the seam. Get’s me everytime.
I know I questioned buying a costume for Ben this year. We did finally decide to do it after we were invited to a family pumpkin carving party. Lesson learned. Buy early lest the good costumes get picked over. Our procrastination brought compromise, he ended up with white pajamas with a hood and ears. Voila - he was a polar bear. Good enough, and he can wear the pj’s all winter. But have you ever tried to draw a little black nose on a baby? Not so easy..
How about the Mall of America Halloween event last night. Did any of you ditch the cold weather and go there instead? If so how was it? Crowded? Good candy? Would you go again? Please report back.
