New ways to get that medicine to go down in the paper’s Source section today, including chocolate and strawberry sprinkles and edible strips. Still, nothing can really take the place of plain, old firmness. Begging a child to “please cooperate with me” is “not a good idea,” says one pediatrician.

Speaking of being firm, even the preschool set isn’t immune to the lure of tech toys these days. It seems Santa’s list is increasingly filled with requests for Barbie laptops and Fisher-Price Kid-Tough digital cameras. We’ll see how long our household can hold out. As it is, Zoe’s already discovered our digital camera and has been snapping artsy, gritty (read “lopsided”) pictures of her sister crawling around the house.
