“Gentle, Ben.”

We have been saying that phrase a lot while we show Ben how to pet our dog, Chloe. (Admittedly, whenever I say that it does conjour up images, of a boy, his bear and a super cool air boat in the Florida Everglades. Am I dating, myself ? Hey I watched it in re-runs).
Obscure 70’s pop-culture reference aside, we are in the beginning stages of trying to teach our son kindness. For starters, this means petting Chloe gently, softly, and not tugging her whiskers or pulling her ears. I ran across this article on “How to Raise a Compassionate Child” and printed it out for future reference. I thought it contained great advice.Â
How do you teach your children caring and compassion?
