Dosing Little Ones

The Strib’s Josephine Marcotty writes in today’s paper - “Dose of Caution” - about why you should hold back on over-the-counter cold and cough medicine for the littlest kids, and bring out the bulb syringe and humidifier instead.
I guess that’s why our pediatrician was so maddeningly non-committal when I asked if we should give the 16-month-old cold medicine. She said something like “You can if you want.” When I asked: “Well, do you think we should?” She said no. Then again: “But you can if you want.” (Our two girls endured multiple rounds of colds this winter…it felt like it would never end.)
What do you do, Cribsheeters?
