Match the Daddy

Here’s something for the “Not in Sync with Reality” category.

On our flight home from Malaysia, a flight attendant with a plunging neckline and tight sarong gave our Zoe a kids’ bag of activities.

It included a little book with a game that invites you to match the father to the son. (Oh, Cribsheeters, can you just see it coming?)

It showed a picture of fathers upstairs on a London double-decker bus. The sons are downstairs. Blond blue eyed man upstairs, little blond blue-eyed boy downstairs. Black man with afro upstairs…you get the picture.

I was amused and appalled at the same time.

Clearly something from a bygone, simpler era. Not necessarily true for our cross-cultural, multi-hued, adoption-assisted, egg-and-sperm donor-enabled families of today.
