* Ohmigod I’ve Become My Mother!

In Sunday’s Source Gail Rosenblum writes about the moment  you say or do something and realize. “I’m my mother!”

You can read her article here.

Mine happened recently. I was cooing at baby Vivian and I called her “BenPeterChloe-I meanVivian!”

Maybe it was my synapses miss-firing - they do that a lot lately. Coffee helps.

But I think they are genetically predispositioned to missfire in the manner of my mother.

My mom totally used to do the same thing - rattle off every name in the family (including the dog’s) until she finally got to mine. She’d even get to mine and keep on going - and perhaps throw in a relatives or neighbors name for good measure.

She’d beckon me from the avocado colored kitchen while I was lying on my belly on the red shag rug watching Gilligan’s Island re-runs and it went something like this.

“HowieLynneDougKayTippyGordyI mean KAY come set the table.”

And of course if I ignored her and kept watching (the Professor was kinda dreamy afterall)… then “HowieLynneDougKayTippyGordy I mean KAY” became a concise “KATHRYN!”

I was just going to end my post right there and ask so when was your “I’ve become my mother” moment?

But I just stepped back and realized to truly become my mother is something to strive for not laugh at.

To become my mother would mean becoming: a dynamo, self-motivated, loving, tireless, full of grace, faithful, dedicated, fit as a fiddle, stylish, and altrustic - just to name a few. Then I realized - she became everything her mother was (and then some). So I’ll keep working on it.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!

Ok - so now I’ll ask the question: When did you realize you became your mom?
