A Baby Named Love

A heartwarming story from a disaster zone with way too few of them: Last month, Zhang Xiaoan, 35, was pregnant and trapped in the rubble of what remained of her apartment building in the town of Dujiangyan in Sichuan Province, China. In the 50 hours until rescuers got her, she prayed her baby would live.
On Wednesday, Zhang gave birth to a 7-pound 4 ounce girl. She named her “Ai,” or Love. In a country where thousands (millions?) are born each day, this birth riveted the nation.
Here’s the story from our web site, topped with the excruciating headline “From Rubble with Love.” Click here for piccy of happy mother and baby. (Mom looks incredulous, baby oblivous.)
Happy weekend, Cribsheeters.
