We Sent the Kids to School in Pajamas Today

For it was Pajama Day at school.
Certainly not something I remember doing from my preschool days, but there you have it.
After arms and legs were threaded through the only pairs of matching cotton pajamas they still have (thank you, Aunty Pam), that still fit (okay, their ankles were showing) and that aren’t flannel winter numbers that would cook them this lovely summer day, off they went.
I felt a little tug in the heart watching them walk from the front door to the car with their Daddy, clutching books of bedtime stories. Why hadn’t I bought cuter pajamas for the occasion? Wouldn’t it have been funny to get a big pink hair roller each (do they still exist) to place atop their heads? Slap on an avocado face mask (okay, maybe not…)?
And worst: What if Pajama Day is actually tomorrow?
