Glued to the DNC
Posted on August 28th, 2008 – 12:39 PMBy May Chen
Just as the Beijing Olympics lured me to the sports pages, the Democratic National Convention’s got me watching politics on TV, something I never do.
How could anybody not be moved, riveted, hooked by the drama unfolding in the convention center in Denver? Even my four-year-old looked up from her book of cartoons when Michelle Obama brought Sasha and Malia out on stage with her and they began talking to their dad on the big screen. And that look on Chelsea Clinton’s face, looking up at her mother on stage last night, ever the loyal daughter, was enough to break your heart.
Here’s Mom101’s take.

We’re watching, too - the whole family! It was good for my 7-year-old, an ardent Hillary supporter, to watch
Clinton’s glowing speech supporting Obama. Now she’s ready to move on.
And when did Chelsea become such a lovely young woman? She was damn poised addressing that big crowd. I told my daughter, “You know, one day that could be you up there in politics.”
She gave me a shy smile, but I could see the wheels are turning.
Thanks May! I will say, between the Olympics on Beijing time and the convention on Denver time, I’m dying of sleep deprivation here in New York. I wish we could have all these consecutive weeks of drama, oh, at say 6:30, 7:30 central?

Mom101 - I know! I’m using up my TV quota for the next four years. Somehow I suspect I will not be writing a post titled “Glued to the RNC” this w/e… But what do I matter. As a non-citizen, I can’t vote anyway.
Oh boy, I take that back. Now I’m going to be watching Sarah Palin. No matter what you think of her and her experience, she’s certainly injected a big dose of excitement into the McCain campaign.
