Oh, I was going to add that I heard on the radio this afternoon that the organizers of Civic Fest are now eliminating the $15 per person entrance fee, in hopes that attendees will make donations to the Red Cross instead.

Sophie,

There was a schedule of musical/author acts in last Sunday's edition of the Star Trib. Maybe they will run it again this weekend?

When we were there, it was very crowded in some spots, but lots of people had picnic blankets and were sitting all over this large hill. There are picnic tables near the playground, but last year those were the busiest spots in the whole place. There may have been other picnic tables, but I didn't notice them.

We are really looking forward to the Target Book Festival. Any ideas about trying to have a birthday/picnic there? Are there available picnic tables (it will be a small group) or would we be better off having our picnic in another location nearby and then shuttling over? Is it super crowded? Where do they have the stages? Do we know the times for the different acts/events? I can't seem to find any more detailed information.

Thanks!

I highly recommend the Target Children's Book Festival! We went last year and had a blast. There are multiple parking lots around Hyland Lake and then they shuttle you to the event. The musical events look great this year, although Johnny and the Sprites were the hit in my household last year.

I love the idea of the oval office Christmas photo. I wish the event wasn't so expensive though. It would be a cool Ulysses Grant ($50) to get my family in the door. However, I bet it would be worth it.
