How Did 365 Days Just Fly By

since baby Vivian was born!? It’s like she went from 0 to 1 in 60 seconds. * blink *
Yes it was a year ago @ 5:41 am 11/7/07
Please excuse me while I get a little sappy & sentimental.
Little details I remember from that beautiful morning:
2.5 pushes and wheee - she was out!
“Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones played as she entered this world.
Two of Peter’s big fat tears splattered on my shoulder in slow motion when the doctor announced “It’s a girl!”
I exclaimed “Well. Hello Vivian!”
Then our doctor cried. (she had a baby Vivian at home too)
“Hallelujah” by John Cale came on as Peter cut the cord.
And of course the ginkgo tree story.
Little things I love:
Her caterpillar girl hugs! She hugs like an inchworm.
Her silly dances and head shakes. The girl has rhythym.
Her belly laughs with her big brother.
Her little strawberry birthmark.
That she actually likes my singing.
Things I feel guilty about:
That I still haven’t bought a baby book.
That I just had to go check last year’s post to double check on the time she was born. I wasn’t sure if it was 5:41 or 5:42 or was it 5:43?
That I didn’t even crack open “What to Expect the First Year” to remind myself of what she should be doing each milestone.
That someone just asked “How old is he? ” When I had her dressed in Ben’s hand me down blue hoodie and blue puppy Robeez.
That I didn’t even know she liked purses. Her daycare provider told me. She’s been playing with all of Ben’s toys at home. So you better believe she got a pretty purse for her birthday!
Celebrating one year @ Grandma’s.
I will never cease to be amazed at how incredible the first year of life is.
Such a transformation from tiny baby to teetery toddler!
Happy Birthday Vivian!
(hey I can print this post out and put it in the baby book I have yet to buy - that will assuage some guilt no?)
