i forgot to mention that the Blue Sky coupon books have discounts at most of the stores listed above, as well as other great green friendly restaurants and grocery savings. they're sold all over the cities for $15-20, depending on the retailer.

Great post! I agree completely. You've explained the benefit of natural toys better than I've ever been able to. Thanks!

p.s. We love Peapods...

http://lyneya.wordpress.com/2008/11/22/playsilks/

Dying silks with koolaid is super easy! As long as you put in a bit of vineger and make sure it gets heat set (microwave, boil it, or steam it) it's permanent! It's also addictive. At the moment I've got a whole drawer full of blank silks and koolaid waiting to expiriment with.

Thanks for the other store ideas! I knew there had to be more, I just don't get to venture into town very often. :)

Great advice, I've been on the same quest the last few weeks, with our daughter's 1st b-day and christmas to shop for.

I went to Linden Hills Natural Home last week, as well as Wonderment. I got wood alphabet blocks and silk scarves. (i've since done research online and it looks super easy to buy scarves in bulk and dye w/ kool aid! I'll be doing that for the rest of the rainbow of colors)

Just today I stopped into a new shop on Nicollet, the Green Goober. Great selection, mostly for ages 2 and up. they also have soy printed books, very reasonable--$6.99 for a really cute board book.

I'm excited to start making some toys. Something about the sense of accomplishment seeing your little one enjoy something you created for them!

Check out The Green Goober for another local natural toy option. They're new and nothing but natural/sustainable type toys.
