Your Dog and My Girls

Here’s the biggest reason we love the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
The first time the girls spotted this big guy, looking down from the third floor of the atrium, they shrieked in delight. We took the elevator to the deserted first floor of the Target wing and there he was.
Zoe and Maya ran up to the aptly named “Your Dog” and sank to their knees before him.
He’s that good.
Your Dog is the big shiny fiberglass creation of Yoshitomo Nara. My vote for the least-known kids’ attraction in the cities. There’s never been anyone else around except guards when we’ve been there. The only drawback is you can’t reach out and touch the adorable giant pup.
Next time you’re looking for a nice warm indoor place to take the kids, I highly recommend this. Plus admission is free.
Other things we like at the MIA: the wishing fountain, the 3rd floor period rooms, the kids’ meals at D’amico and the many, many benches, all of which Maya feels compelled to lie spread-eagled on everytime she spots one.
