Happy 2009 Cribsheeters!

Today - we’re going to revisit a post from last January.- Note to Future Self. futureme.org is a no-frills web site where you can write a letter to yourself next week, next year or 2037 - just pick a date (and hope your future you still has the same e-mail address).

Well I opened up my e-mail yesterday and received a note from my January ‘08 self to my January ‘09 self. It was very fun to receive especially since I didn’t remember everything I wrote. The only thing I really remembered was that I wanted to complete the Iron Girl. I swear that knowing this e-mail was coming was part of my motivation. I really didn’t want to disappoint the January ‘08 Kay by not completing that goal.

Here is what I wrote (and just answered):
Dear FutureKay,
Hope you had a great year!
(Why yes I did PastKay, thanks for asking)
First of all, I hope you did as many fun things with Ben and Vivian as possible.
(Too many to mention, yet still didn’t seem like enough)
Can you believe she’s already one!?
(Nope!)
I hope you went on at least a date a month with Peter and had fascinating
non-child related conversations.
(Not quite. Does having cocoa with Baileys and watching old Mary Tyler Moore episodes after the kids go to bed count? Then, yes!)
Did you have a happy 40th?
(Sure did!)
Hope you had a happy 8th anniversary too.
(yes!)
I hope that you successfully finished the Iron Girl in September.
(check!)
Are you saving money for a big Banff/Canadian Rockies trip in 2010?
(We were….until I found out two days ago that my Subaru’s transmission went and so did our savings - and then some)
Did you “Deflate in ‘08” like you had hoped?
(Baby weight - gone! Now for the holiday lbs. that snuck up on me.)
Please, oh please remember this other mantra. Don’t Procreate in ‘08!
(phew, check!)
How about keeping up with far away friends. I hope you sent each and every one a birthday card.
(Yes and no. I sent several cards but not all of the ones I should have)

I’m going to write another one for 2009, and keep a copy this time. I need to gather my thoughts first.

2009 is here. The economy is in the tank, the housing market too and there are more and more layoffs in the news daily.
There is certainly uncertainty in the air. But really, doesn’t every year bring that?

I say 2009 - Bring it on!

Did anyone else write to their future self? Goals or aspirations for this year?
Do share.
