Below is a note from one of our regular commenters, Darcie with a note about the goodness and generosity that has come out of immense loss.

“Hi I wanted to touch base with you guys about some exciting things happening, all thanks to the connections made via Cribsheet! Hard to believe it’s been almost 10 months since Matt Logelin wrote into Cribsheet telling us that he had lost his wife just 27 hours after giving birth to their first daughter Madeline. (see his original e-mail here). Since writing into Cribsheet Matt has befriended many of us, many of us whom have left ourselves asking - “What would we do?” as well as “What can we do?” Shortly after reading about Matt on Cribsheet, Rachel started a blog “Help Matt and Madeline.”

Through this blog many great things happened for Matt, including donations of formula checks and a 5K walk in Liz’s honor last fall -
Rachel wasn’t satisified with just the blog…and now, (drum roll please!) this Friday (today) we are pleased to announce the going live of the site
The Liz Logelin Foundation - For the Love of Liz

This foundation is being set up in Liz Logelin’s name to help other young widows and widowers with young children who find themselves suddenly dealing with the loss of their spouse. We are excited about what 2009 holds, a busy year (learning and growing) as a non-profit foundation, planning various fundraising events, etc.

I am so thrilled to be a part of this ~ It has been nice to see such great things coming out of an unthinkable tragedy.”

I’m speechless - you guys are incredible! Thanks to so many of you who took the initiative to “do something” - look at the results!
So proud and humbled by your altruism and generosity.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Matt, Madeline and Liz’s story - you can link to the article written by Star Tribune reporter, Maura Lerner last April - here.
