Puppy Bowl and Prada

We were all invited over to a friends house for some serious chili and Super Bowl watching. (I’m a commercial watcher myself).
Little Vivian was not feeling so hot, or actually she was - she had a fever teetering around 100. Enough to make her feel lousy.
So, I sent the boys on their merry way out the door last night with appetizers and a diaper bag.
We were left to ourselves and our own remote control devices.
Just the girls on Super Bowl night.
First we came upon some Puppy Bowl action on Animal Planet - which brought squeals of delight from little Vivi. Matilda the Beagle was definitely MVP (most valuable pup) in her eyes. When cuteness overload got to her she turned off the TV and toddled over with a book. (Pat the Puppy - of course).
We snuggled under the comforter on the couch and to my surprise and delight she manuevered herself up to my shoulder and promptly fell asleep!
Sigh. Heaven.
Just like the good old baby days. There was some point around 9 or 10 months where she stopped falling asleep on our chests. I had already bemoaned the end of an era and it’s a very sad end. But that era often comes back when they’re feeling ill.
I certainly couldn’t get off the couch and risk waking her now could I? So I covered both of us up, hunkered down on the couch and grabbed the remote.
I stumbled upon the Devil Wears Prada and fell asleep with my baby girl once again while Meryl Streep’s coat-tossing montage played in the background.
I know I missed a good game and a few decent commercials - but, what a super Sunday night.
