Sprung Out!

Spring sprang and sproinged officially last week and I’m loving it.
Our household sprung out and won’t go back in. Fine by me.
Here are some random musings from a spring weekend.

We pretty much haven’t seen nor talked to the neighbors since Halloween so we’ve been reaquainting ourselves in the driveway as I’m sure everyone has been doing these past lovely weekends.

I realized for the last four winters they have either witnessed me enter winter with a pregnant belly and emerge with a baby or enter winter with a baby and emerge with a real life walking talking toddler. Either way they are thrilled to see the kids when we all materialize once again in the spring.

We’ve been holed up for 5 months and sealed in by that saran wrap 3M window treatment. This weekend I ripped it all off with glee then threw open the windows.
It’s really very satisfying.
I think I heard the house do a Tupperware burp and sigh with relief.

Screens! I was so happy to just have screens! I let the cross ventilation and breezes wash away the stale stench of hibernation.
I am certain that our house smelled like dirty diapers and wet dog for months. But you know how your nose gets immune or burnt out to the smell. And no one would tell us.
I wanted to beckon a random passer in January by to have them step in our doorway and tell us honestly - “Yes your house stinks.” Random passers by are hard to come by in January. But no more, the breezes blew through, briskly aired us out, and washed it all away.

And the kids on the driveway, playing. I realized Vivian had never truly played outside before since she was just a crawling baby last year. Oh the joy of mud puddles, sidewalk chalk, Cozy Coupes, and learning the invisible boundry at the end of the driveway - we’re still working on that.

And spring cleaning: I aquired a new found gusto and energy from being outside. I emptied the kids drawers and closets and sorted the oh so gratifying give away bags.
And I finally got rid of the well intentioned hand-me-downs given to us by aquaintances who had their kids in a previous decade. I didn’t know kids clothes could get outdated but yes, they sure can. I realized that I was never going to dress the Ben and Vivian like they were extras on Seinfeld and those clothes also hit the Goodwill bag as well.

As the wind picked up later in the day - Vivian was looking out the window with fits of giggles.
I went over to see what she was making her laugh.
Just two dry leaves doing a swirly cyclone dance on the deck.
Looked like they were chasing eachother.
And it was funny.
You just have to stop and notice.

Happy Spring Cribsheeters - what have you been doing to enjoy the weather?
