Childcare and contracts

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

We have a request from Strib workplace reporter H.J. Cummins, who wants to tap into our valuable and (ahem!) vast pool of readers.

Do you have a contract with your childcare provider? And if so, what are important elements in it? Have you had any bad experiences?

If you have a story to tell, e-mail H.J. directly at hcummins@startribune.com before Tuesday.

Knock knock! Who’s there?

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Labor unions are knocking on doors around Minnesota trying to recruit day care providers, according to this Strib story today.

What’s it mean for parents? Nobody seems to know quite yet. The unions say any extra pay will come from state subsidies, not parents. The goal is to get the state’s 12,500 providers more clout at the Capitol, where budget cuts have slashed child-care subsidies.
