Any good Fair deals out there?

Confession: I’m not a perfect bargain hunter. There are times when I throw caution to the wind and spend freely without my usual due diligence–like when I’m traveling and when I’m at the State Fair. Traipsing half-way across the fairgrounds to save a buck for a once a year event just isn’t going to happen on my watch.

Other than the Blue Ribbon Bargain Book ($5) and Thrifty Thursday deals (today), I’m outta ideas. Except for one: Kids eat for $1.50 at Giggles campfire Grill in the North Woods area near Cooper St. and Randall Ave . (I-8 on the locater map). The meal includes three large chicken nuggets, a bag of mini-carrots and a raspberry sorbet or cookie (no drink).

Other than the freebies, what’s the best fair deal that you’ll walk a mile to? Does such a deal even exist?

The best food deals you’ll find at the fair aren’t really deals - just somethings be sold at non-fair prices.

I’m talking about the selection of snacks at the Snyder’s Drug Store booth on first floor of the Grandstand.

They may not be fancy, but if you need a quick pick-me-up for cheap they’ll do the job.

The best soda/pop deal is in the Food Building. Directly across from the Cheese Curd stand on the south wall, there is a place that sells 33 oz. Coke products for $2.

If you like Pepsi products, walk a few feet to Mr. E’s Drink Time, where they have 33 oz. Pepsi products for $2.25.
