YOUR GUIDE TO THE TWIN CITIES
The Steve & Barry’s clothing and collegiate apparel store in Brookdale will close Wednesday, Sept. 24. Starting Friday, Sept. 19, everything will be $6.98 or less. The Westgate Mall store in Brainerd will sell everything at $8.98 or less. The stores in Northtown Mall in Blaine, Burnsville Center and Knollwood Mall in St. Louis Park will remain open and will not honor the $6.98 price.
Buying hats, shoes, sweaters or pants for $6.98 is a great deal, but I have to chuckle when I also report that the clothes were originally only $10.98. A pat on the back if you can find any made in the USA item there. Â
Everything at all the Steve & Barry’s has been $8.98 for months now. I can’t figure it out; even the new merchandise, even though this started as a spring clearance sale. Anyway, you get what you pay for, although the shoes seem are a decent deal if you can find your size.
I bought some articles from the Bitten line at Steve and Barry’s. Terrible quality. I should have known better. Everything shrank 2 sizes the first time I washed and dried them, threads were coming loose all over etc. Like Alexis said in her comment,we do get what we pay for. I generally find good-quality stuff from the Limited, Gap, Casual Corner, etc for under $6 at Arc’s Value Village..I just have to take the time to look. These things have lasted me for years because they are better quality to start. Another good place (but only for women’s stuff) is Clothes Mentor. They take only better-quality stuff. It’s higher priced than a thrift store, but still very reasonable.
