Where can you find a good deal this weekend? Let me list a few. Feel free to add your own.

1. Discount 70 (4027 Central Av. NE, Columbia Heights, 763-781-8922) started a big shoe sale Friday. More than 1,600 pairs of new shoes are discounted 70 to 80 percent, including tennis shoes, hiking boots, sports shoes (golf, football, baseball), and sandals. Discount 70 is, in my opinion, one of the best discount stores in the Twin Cities. It’s also a good spot to find low prices on electronics, furniture, flat screen TVs, toys and house and yard goods.

2. Bibelot  gift shops are offering a 20 percent storewide discount today and Saturday. Spend $100 and get a $10 giftcard.

3. Albertville Premium Outlets has a better than average deal going on Saturday and Sunday. Sign up and print the VIP coupon sheet for extra savings Saturday and Sunday. Usually, the discounts are 15 or 20 percent if you spend $100, but this weekend only save 20 to 25 percent off your entire purchase (no minimum) at Converse, Dressbarn, Guess, Guess Kids, Harry & David, Maidenform, Reebok, Rockport and Yankee Candle. Stores offering 20 to 25 percent off a single item include Ann Taylor, Calvin Klein, Coldwater Creek, Lancome, Le Creuset, Samsonite and Wilson’s Leather. Print out a voucher at the site for a free coupon booklet available in the mall office. Some of those coupons are different from the ones on the website.

4. Northern Tool celebrates the grand opening of its Minnetonka store at County Rd. 101 and Hwy. 7 Saturday. There will be discounts of 10 percent on most tools with some up to 75 percent. Free breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served as well as appearances by Minnesota Twin Al Newman (9-10 a.m.), Vikings John Randle, Chuck Foreman and NASCAR star Erik Darnell (10 a.m. to 11 p.m.).
