New trend: Occasional sales for kids’ stuff

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Disappointed in the amount of cash back you’ve gotten from Once Upon A Child? Looking for a larger selection that at OUAC? Try one of the occasional sales organized by franchisees From Yours to Mine or Just Between Friends. The sales have grown into warehouse-sized events since they arrived in the Twin Cities three years ago.

It’s too late to consign your items for the From Yours to Mine sale happening April 4-5 (Saturday and Sunday) in Lakeville, but you can certainly shop the sale and inquire about how it’s done at the fall sale. Consignors get to set and keep 70 percent of the selling price and can choose which items go half-price on the last sale of the sale and which unsold items can be donated to charity. Consignors do not have to be there during the sale, which makes it a lot less time consuming than a garage sale.

The April 4-5 sale at Hasse Hockey Arena (8525 215th St. W., Lakeville, 952-564-7566) will include spring and summer merchanise from more than 100 consignors. Organizer Henrietta Roe said that more than 15,000 items will be for sale from local consignors including the nusual toys and clothes plus 20 strollers, 6 cribs and 15 high chairs. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday ($1 admission) and 9 a.m to noon Sunday (most items half-price).

If you can’t make it to this sale or have items you want to consign at a future one, inquire about one of the upcoming sales at the Just Between Friends website including Maple Grove and Brooklyn Park (April 23-25), Eden Prairie (May 7-9), Edina and Eagan (May 14-16) and Woodbury (May 28-30) or call 763-226-5526.
